About Me

Autodidact. Third culture kid. Hard to distinguish if I chose or it chose me, but I've lived quite a diverse life and have been privileged to travel a few places quite deeply, most notably with my longest periods abroad being in Latinoamérica - yet I grew up in Melbourne, Australia. Through my travels and experiences, I hope to have traded enough from the Australian colonial lens to see through another, to help understand and have a healthy respect for my fellow worldlings and exchange perspectives.

I studied drums and percussion back home at a conservatory and in Brazil. I feel the connection of music and the human condition as a deep one. My other side being involved in photography and have worked in the industry for the last few years. Although I have based in the commercial sector, in a visual literacy sense and in my personal life, I prefer reflections on the relationship between humans and the world, information between the lines, the splice of life and art.

Equally of importance to me is I love being in nature - particularly water.

If you know of an exceptionally beautiful body of water in your area, send me recommendations! Especially if it's a beautiful cenote ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Shared an Uber with Steve Shelley from Sonic Youth around Montevideo from Ciudad Vieja to Tres Cruces and we ended up doing dinner and hanging out for a night.

Walking halfway down Volcan Pacaya at night and all of a sudden it erupted. Seeing the sun rise from the lip of volcano Mt.Bromo in Java was such along time ago but impossible to forget.

Couchsurfed a completely sustainable living house in the tropical rainforest in Kyogle. Amazing and inspirational.

My first 8 months in Brazil - the experience was incredible.

Second time in Brazil studying percussion language for a semester at Unicamp, Campinas - so rewarding. Duo jammed with the son of Baden Powell 5 stories up in an amazing house with panoramic views of Rio at the top of the mountain in Santa Teresa.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy exchanging travel stories and experiences and would love to meet similar creative and chilled out people who like to travel and experience the world.

Where I live: I seek out things I'm attracted to in music, anything creative, performing arts, people, moments. I really enjoy the beauty and relaxed pace of Mérida, it's diversity and beautiful surrounding nature. It has a cosmopolitan side, great restaurants, galleries, bars, festivals and places to see great live music and much more. I can recommend personal favourite places and experiences in the region.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a couple of unique recipes and dishes I like to cook. Friends and hosts alike have enjoyed these plates over the years. As a host, if you're receptive to the idea, of course I'm happy to collaborate or share this with you.

Food and drink is the fabric of connecting so many people and cultures, it's so simple and often very rewarding.
