About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to be like bugs when they break through a cocoon.

ABOUT ME

I will try to make this brief and palatable.

I am a student of life. I like to listen, observe, and learn from my own experiences as well as from others'. I strive to be self aware, compassionate, open-minded, and honest.

I balance my "dreamer"-like idealism with a pretty healthy dose of cynicism. I try not to drink the Kool-aid, if you know what I mean.

PHILOSOPHY

I have strong opinions, but I seldomly volunteer them unless solicited. "Live and let live" may be a cliche, but I tend to abide by it nonetheless.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I lived in various housing cooperatives that hosted couch surfers regularly. I think cs is a wonderful community that helps people connect with one another all across the globe. Right now I am surfing, but once I settle down again, I will most certainly be hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All of my couch surfing experiences (thus far)have been a delight. I yearn to connect with people in a meaningful way, and couchsurfing has helped make that happen on several occasions.

Music, Movies, and Books

In most discussions about movies and television, I am completely ignorant. Books, however, I enjoy a lot. Recently, I have been reading a lot of David Foster Wallace, and am currently tredging through Infinite Jest. Favorite authors include: Camus, Sallinger, Vonnegut, Joyce, and Dostoevsky.

In music, my taste is quite varied. Generally speaking, I enjoy music that makes my feet move, fist raise, or armhair stand up. Such music includes: punk/folk (ghost mice, matty pop chart, this bike is a pipe bomb, craig salt peters, watercolor paintings, spoonboy, death set, defiance, ohio) electronic/pop (MGMT, phoenix, the flaming lips, sparklehorse, the XX, prodigy, the crystal method, ratatat), DJs (fourtet, dj shadow, danger mouse, tiesto) and rock/alternative/singer-song writer stuff (radiohead, mogwai, danny malone, bob dylan, tim buckley, modest mouse, the brian jonestown massacre) I love jazz, soul, funk, blues, drum and bass, and rap/hiphop, too. This list is already too long, but I could go on...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in a commune with 100 dirty hippies for 2 years--the stories are pretty ridiculous, and much too numerous for me to list. But, I have:
-organized a covert mission to steal a christmas tree and decorate it with porn, tampons, and condoms
-made/drank hoot juice. if you don't know what that is, ask....and then rejoice in the fact that you've never crossed its path.
-Climbed a lot of rooftops. Some of which have been been used as platforms for jumping into water; others just as secluded spots for star-gazing.
-Held hands with thousands of people and prayed for peace in the middle of a forest. I have mixed feelings about this.

...and so on...

Teach, Learn, Share

oh, okay! I know a little bit about: health/nutrition, gardening, cooking, carpentry, English grammar(isn't that fun??), yoga, massage, tagging/wheat-pasting, and various other arts/crafts.

I would LOVE to learn (more) about: SAILING, sewing, building things with my hands, playing the fiddle, cooking, dancing, and....you?
