Music, Movies, and Books
music:
I like classical, but also swing & latin, for dancing. I like most pop & rock that has a rhythm to get you going and/or a catchy melody or some sweet harmonies. Big fan of Apocalyptica as well, for obvious reasons (cello), although it's metal. Quite a difference from the usual accoustic cello sound.
I also like film music by the following composers:
- John Williams
- Ennio Morricone
- Nino Rota
- Howard Shore
(- Hans Zimmer)
For my street music I play a mix of classical pieces, film scores that I transcribed for Cello and pop / rock songs.
movies:
- The Imitation Game
- The Martian
- The King's Speech
- Blazing Saddles
- Doctor Zhivago
- Hunt for Red October
- Skyfall
- The Lord of the Rings, extended director's cut only (good, but still don't do the books justice, not by a long way)
- Ocean's 11, 12 & 13
- Now You See Me
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
books:
- The Lord of the Rings
- The Martian by Andy Weir
- anything by Roald Dahl (yes, I know it's for children, but still extremely well written and fun to read even as an adult. Stay young at heart!)
- ...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelled through 7 European countries playing street music in 20 different cities.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjou talking about science, music, woodworking and engineering, camping and general outdooring (e.g. equipment), hiking, windsurfing, ballroom dancing and many other things practical and abstract.
I like to learn more on all the above topics, but also about new cultures and languages. And I would like to learn from the doers and makers / creators of this world.
At the moment I cannot share much material stuff, but time, skill, knowledge and love.
What I Can Share with Hosts
- help with the house while I’m there, taking care of kids & pets (except cats - allergy 😕)
- stories of my travels
- a love for music
- discussions about life in general
