I'm Oliver, a 21 years old Mechatronics Engineering student who loves to travel around the world (though for now I've mainly traveled through Europe) whenever possible. I also really enjoy connecting with new people during my travels, as making friends is always fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here mainly to meet new people and have a great time together. Since I'm a student with limited financial backing I also really appreciate Couchsurfing as a cheaper alternative to hostels/hotels. As I'm currently living in my parents house, I'm unfortunately not able to offer a bed yet, but in the future that might change!

Interests

I'd generally consider myself to be quite active and I like to be in nature. Since I come from a very mountainous country close to the alps, sports like skiing, climbing and hiking are deeply rooted in my heritage. But I also enjoy calmer activities like chess, reading or fishing. And even though my prime football days (just a saying, I was never that good xD) are over, I still enjoy to play some football with friends or watch games together. Obviously, I also like to party every now and then, although I'm usually a bit restricted due to my student-like budget. As an almost constantly hungry person, I also really like to enjoy some delicious food, especially with some good company!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an avid punk rock fan, although I would consider my music taste to be quite broad. Therefore I also enjoy rock in general, metal music, but also house music, techno and some pop music from time to time. Recently I've also discovered Spanish and Latin American Music (after watching Narcos, which I really recommend btw), which I really enjoy now, too!
Currently I'm reading the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. In general I'd say that I prefer fantasy books, but I'm very much open to suggestions!
My favourite movies are Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy...these are just the ones that come to mind right now xD

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One thing I really like to remember is my skiing experience in February 2023. There I beat my latest speed record by skiing down a slope with 94 km/h, which was scary and amazing at the same time! Another thing I'd like to mention was my time in civil service (mandatory in Austria), where I was able to help elderly people master the last days/weeks/months of their lives, which in turn changed my life as well!

Teach, Learn, Share

As I play chess somewhat often, I'd love to show someone how to play or just practice together. Also I'd consider myself capable of teaching some basic phrases in German, especially if you want to learn some Austrian dialect as well xD.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Aside from the obvious, namely helping keep the house clean and all, I can also offer a couple of helpful and fun Austrian German phrases, as well as a beginners crash course in chess, football, climbing or skiing. I'd also consider myself to be quite outgoing and open-minded, so going for drinks or food together and talking would be amazing as well!
