Overview
About Me
My passions in life are movement, exploring, food and community. I love to grow, cook and eat food and share it with the people around me. My journey started in high school when I fell in love with cooking and became an active member of a community youth group. Since then, I've spent a gap year in Israel/Palestine, completed an economics degree in Montreal, came back to Vancouver to complete a Dietetics (nutrition) degree. Over that time I've developed a lot of new interests and learned a lot of new skills (cooking, gardening, fermenting, camping, hiking). I share my adventures and ideas on my Instagram (@olliesbites).
Update 2026: I recently completed a farm fellowship (Adamah) and I’m currently living in the Kootenays as part of an eco building /homesteading apprenticeship
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travel can often be a very seclusive experience; I don't just want to see sights; I want to interact with and learn from people from all over the world. I think we all have incredible ideas and ways of living that we can share with one another.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy reading about food. Recently, I've been reading through Michael Pollan's books (Cooked, Omnivores Dilemma, In Defence of Food). I love flipping through recipe books. Harry Potter was a childhood classic; I still enjoy watching one of the movies once in a while!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a number of summers working at a camp in Washington state. During this time I was part of an amazing team and I helped to set up a camp garden, cooking programs, outdoor leadership activities, facility composting program, and sustainability programs
What I Can Share with Hosts
My passion for food! I'd love to organize and cook a dinner with some of my future hosts (and of course help to clean up afterwards).
