About Me

Hi All,

My name is Ollie and I am currently living in Mexico. I have previously lived in london Nottingham, bogota, queenstown and am originally from a small town in the North of England, called Grimsby. The vast majority of my family still live in Grimsby including parents who also live there but do love to travel. My brother lives in Auckland, New Zealand and I try get out there to visit as regularly as possible.

I graduated in civil engineering in 2014 and unfortunately joined the rat race after graduating (but not anymore). I quit my job and have been travelling for the last 18 months! Lucky man! I genuinely do love my life and all my friends from home and the people I've met along my way. Mainly from couchsurfing.

I have travelled a fair bit before and love meeting new people but have always found my best experiences are from things which I haven't planned and this usually happens when meeting people with local knowledge. So therefore for the last little while I've been living in places for several months instead of traditionally travelling to try and make some friends and experience the actually city a little more. Im currently in cancun, mexico to complete some scuba diving training and hopefully find some work her teaching!

I am a very laid back person and open to most things and I'd really love an opportunity to exchange English and Spanish. I love music and play the guitar and again any opportunity to exchange guitar songs is great.

Thanks,

Ollie

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Love meeting new people and teaching people about real English culture and not what you see about drunken English idiots in the media.

Now that I am travelling would love to met local people and experience the real place and not the sugar coated tourist version I feel you experience with hostels and tourism offices. Would really love to improve my Spanish which I feel will help massively being able to chat to locals. Despite learning for the last few months I am still terrible at Spanish but I will not give up.

Interests

-Playing the guitar and now learning to play the piano. I am a massive music lover and believe that is my really passion although unfortunately I am not naturally musical. I really have to work at it which is annoying but makes it more rewarding.
-Snowboarding. I have been snowboarding since I have 11 and again are not very natural as I have broken so many bones but still am sticking with it!
-Pretty much anything to do with the sea - surfing, sailing, scuba diving, etc. I obtained my rescue scuba diving license a few years ago and am really looking forward to diving some amazing sites whilst im travelling. Including the Galapagos.
-Socializing and having a beer or two.
