About Me

Currently in Rio de Janeiro, travelling Brazil for 6 weeks. Looking for fun people to hang out with and explore or get food and drinks.

Hit me up if you wanna meet up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got started with couchsurfing because of my brother's own experiences of the using this site which willed me to try it out for myself. There is no better way to explore a city and create lasting memories than to do hang out with locals, it is the only way to be truly immersed in local life and get the true authentic experience.

Interests

I studied politics and international relations at university and so naturally I have a keen interest in current events. I'd be interested to listen to your perspectives on global affairs and also learn of local affairs! Learning through discussion is a million ways more effective than through a textbook, and by hearing the perspectives of others you are able to challenge your own views and rethink your positions.

I'm an Arsenal fan (I know, it's a miserable existence at times).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music, I racked up something like 40,000 minutes on Spotify last year. I enjoy a wide range of music (I know this is cliche!). My favourites are Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, Kendrick Lamar, and Fall Out Boy. I've seen three of these in concert - I need to complete the set!

I like to read political theory and books focusing on geopolitics - anything that ties in with my studies. I am currently working my way through Homer's 'Illiad'.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia (I reached the summit first!) The sunrise was awesome up there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm very much open to teaching English. I have a TEFL certification and will in time be looking to put this into practice!

I'd like to learn how to cook local foods. I have tried making falafel since returning from Israel/Palestine, but I am yet to master this!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share travel stories like the time I got stranded at the Pentagon or the time I went to the Golan Heights.

If you're interested in current affairs and international relations I'm happy to discuss ongoing events and historical events! We may not agree on things but that's okay, it would be boring if everyone agreed with everything (albeit peaceful!). If you're interested, particular topics I studied were: Capitalism, International Relations theory (including Marxism, Feminism, Post-colonialism, etc), Islam, Africa, USA. I wrote my dissertation on the internal politics of Iran.
