My name is Oliver,

I'm a young Dane with a big passion for American culture. I've been traveling around the U.S. twice before and I'll attend Oregon State University during the winter and spring terms 2018.
My two trips to the U.S. in 2014 and 2015 were my first encounters with couch surfing and albeit being a little nervous staying with complete strangers, I fell completely in love with this community! All of my hosts, whom I'm still in touch with, were beyond great!

I'm a university student finishing my 3rd semester. I study International Business Communication with a focus on the English and American markets. I've dreamed of living in the United States since I was very young, so getting the chance to study in Oregon is a big dream come true for me!

"Boring stuff" aside, I'm an absolute incarnate football fanatic. Football has been exponentially growing in Denmark and I guess I got hit by the train as well! I bleed green & gold (Go pack!). Furthermore, I watch a lot of basketball and I figured I might as well stay within the state of Wisconsin, so I'm a Bucks fan - probably the only one outside the U.S. lol...

I'm not super big of stature so I've never really considered doing the two above-mentioned sports myself. I have, however, played soccer (national sport in Denmark) for many years and still love to do it whenever I have time (and willing friends).

I'm completely infected with what we in Denmark call "rejsefeber". The direct translation to english is "traveling fever", but I'm not really sure that makes any sense to you non-danes!
Nevertheless, it basically means that I'm absolutely aching to leave my country to see other walks of life...

I have an opinion regarding a wide range of topics. I like to discuss relevant as well as irrelevant things, so try me!

I don't intend to write a novel here, so I guess you'll figure out the rest of me, if we (hopefully) meet!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing for the simple reason that I think it's a great opportunity to meet "native" people in the country I'm visiting. It's also a chance to see the things you normally wouldn't have, when you have someone to "guide" you.

I live with my finnish girlfriend in a small apartment, but when she's home in Finland I'm more than happy to host!

Interests

Whenever it isn't football and basketball season, I tend to have a bad habit of binge-watching a lot of tv-series... you know, to manage my sports-withdrawals ;-)
But I also do have a life! I'm a people person, so even though I really enjoy being alone at certain times, I enjoy being with friends, and usually the more the merrier! My preferred Saturday night is probably with my best friends either playing FIFA or Poker (I forgot to mention that I love poker!!!) while having beers.
If I could list spontaneity as an interest, I would. The most impulsive thing I have ever done is probably going on an interrail trip (a trip through Europe by train) with one of my best friends immediately after our final exam... Pretty much out of the blue!

Music: Pink Floyd, Jedi Mind Tricks, John Mayer, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Witt Lowry... I have an extremely broad taste in music - those names just popped up on top of my mind. I'm definitely addicted to Pink Floyd, though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fulfilling my biggest dream of visiting Lambeau Field to watch my beloved Green Bay Packers beat the Vikings, then flying to Miami to watch them beat the Dolphins the week after! It was such an amazing experience that I brought my dad (who had never watched football) to Green Bay the year after to watch another Packers game. They beat the Chiefs and now my dad is a football (and Packers of course) fan too!
