About Me

Hey guys,

I'm an outdoorsy-kind of person, who likes hiking and relaxing/slacklining in the parks. I am a pretty laid back person, enjoying games and a good conversation.
I also like sports, especially climbing and bouldering.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been Couchsurfing with my family for about 8 years now (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/braunschmid). We have travelled with Couchsurfing and hosted many people in our home in Salzburg and we had the most wonderful experiences with it!

I love meeting locals, because it gives you a totally different view of a country/city and meeting new and interesting people is in my opinion one of the best things about travelling!

That's why I've now decided to start a Couchsurfing profile on my own, to hopefully have many more wonderful encounters!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy fantasy books (Harry Potter, The Magician...), but also Nick Hornby and some of the classics (To Kill a Mockingbird, The Zoo Story)

A good movie for me has to be a bit weird. One of my favourite ones right now is "The Men Who Stare at Goats ". Others would be "Cry Baby" and "Pirates of the Caribbean"

Music: I enjoy many different kinds of music. At the moment I really like Parov Stellar (Electro Swing) and Of Monsters and Men

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hm... There are several travel-stories that come to mind. Our families couch-surfing trip through Israel definitely very memorable.
It was our first Couchsurfing trip and definitely one of the most interesting!
One amazing place we went to was a Kibbutz, near the border to Gaza Strip . The Kibbutz was founded during the 2nd world war. They had built a little museum and there was an old man, who told us many things about this time and place. For instance that, when they came to Israel and founded this town in the desert, they decided not to talk German anymore and started only talking in Hebrew.
Another fun (and a bit weird) experience in Israel was in the desert near the Dead Sea. We went swimming in the water pools there, when an armed guard accidentally dropped his pistol into the pool. My whole family spent the next 10 minutes helping the distraught guard to find his gun again, until my mom found it on the bottom of the pool ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely offer my slacklining and juggling skills :D
I'm always open to learning and teaching new games and cooking an Austrian dish (although I've gotta say, I'm not the words greatest cook, just a word of warning xD)

And in general, I love learning more about new cultures and am glad to give you titbits about my own homeland, Austria.
