About Me

Hi! My name is Olivia. I'm 23 and I call Tennessee home.

I love all kinds of outdoor activities. Some of my facorite past times are singing and playing music, creating art, and writing.

My education in biology has allowed me the opportunity to become a scuba diver, naturalist, animal care taker, and work in informal education and I'm excited to experience some of those things in other parts of the world.

I'm so excited to see new places and meet new people, to grow and to learn lots of new things! Hoping to make some awesome new friends along the way :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel the world and get a more authentic/local experience than just staying at a hotel or camping the whole time. I want to connect to my fellow humans and see what we can learn and share with each other!

Interests

I love music. I've played piano, mandolin and guitar on and off for a few years. Songwriting has become a great way for me to release energy and connect more deeply with myself.

I could spend days at art or natural history museums. I have been to very few, but I hope to change that as soon as possible.

Food might be my favorite thing in the world. Specifically soup. From Caldo and posole to wonton or pho. All of it. I might die without it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classic literature, autobiographies, informational books (history, religion, science, nature), fiction, and poetry just about cover it for reading material. I'd like to start reading more fantasy and mangas. I'm currently on a game of thrones kick.

The only types of movies I'm not crazy about are horror films. I like a good thriller, but those are hard to come by. I love stop motion animation, [classic] Disney, anything Hayao Miyazaki has ever conceived of, and creative animated movies. I also love dramas. Quentin Tarantino-esque movies and cult classics (like Matilda, Bill and Ted, The Princess Bride)are some of my favorites.

Easier to list what I don't like than what I do. I'm just now starting to appreciate heavy metal/hard rock. I used to hate it! I'm not crazy about most rap, but I love some of it. Folk, oldies, classic country, and rock (indie, alternative, classic)are probably my most listened to genres. That's super ambiguous. This is tough. I don't like modern pop or almost anything I can hear on the radio. I love listening to jazz and funk. And I adore live music.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give very basic piano instruction to children or maybe even adults looking for a little help. I can also give very basic vocal instruction.

The list of things I want to learn is too enormous to even conceive of. Let's just say I will take every opportunity I can to learn something new.

I have a photography business and can share photo sessions or even tips to those looking to begin photography. I also love to share music with others. I love a good jam session.
