About Me

I am an avid reader, hiker, runner currently located in Ocean Beach, San Diego. I grew up on the east coast of Maryland and moved to California once I landed a job in San Diego after graduating college in 2014. I recently quit my job in Ocean Beach so I could pursue my dreams of traveling with my best friend Emma!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books/Authors: Any J.D. Salinger novel or short story (Catcher in the Rye, Franny and Zooey, Nine Stories); there's nothing quite like how Salinger can create such a backstory through a simple dialogue. Edgar Allen Poe's grotesque short stories and poetry (The Imp of the Perverse, the Tell-Tale Heart, the Black Cat), John Steinbeck's classic American novels (Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, Travels with Charley, the Winter of our Discontent, etc.), Jack Kerouac's On the Road & The Dharma Bums, F. Scott Fitzgerald's classics (The Great Gatsby, Tender is the Night) I have so many more favorites but I feel like I am getting carried away...

Currently reading a historical non-fiction, "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson, a historical account of the architects who designed the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and the serial killer that reeked havoc at this event. A must read!!!! The most well-written and interesting historical novel I have ever read!

Music: mostly jam bands (Phish, Grateful Dead, Keller Williams, Umphrey's McGee), surf rock (The Growlers, The Allah Las), some bluegrass/folk (Yonder Mountain String Band, Shakey Graves), classic rock (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, the Allman Brothers, etc), but I also get down to some gangster rap music to motivate me during my long distance runs.

Movies/Actors: all of Quentin Terantino's flicks (Recently saw the Hateful Eight, SO GOOD!) , anything with Leonardo DiCaprio in it, Fight Club (or anything with Edward Norton), Goodfellas (basically any/all Mobster movies, Roy Liotta!!), basically anything with Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, and the gang (Danny McBride!!!!!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked a rigorous 20 miles roundtrip to the Sykes Hot Springs in Big Sur. The most physically demanding hike I have done to date, but so worth it!
