About Me
Hello! I am an 18 year old girl from New England, in the United States.
I am very kind, polite, respectful, and fun loving. I am looking to stay with hosts who will give me insight into the daily lives and cultures of Icelanders, and possibly help guide me in my adventures around Iceland. I enjoy getting to know people deeply, learning about how they feel and think, and would be happy to have long conversations with anyone about anything.
I really love music, can sing and play guitar, and would be happy to do either with/for you! I can learn new songs pretty quickly, so if you let me know a particular song you want to hear, I can probably arrange to play it for you if you have a guitar I can use.
I would love to go shopping for groceries and help my hosts out in the kitchen, learning how to cook local foods or cooking some of the foods I normally eat at home. I also really love coffee, so if you have a favorite coffee to make, or coffee shop to visit, sharing that with me would be the most amazing thing ever.
I recently graduated from high school, and received a scholarship from my school which funds a "gap year" of travel for a proposed project. I will be staying in Iceland for three months to conduct independent research on the culture of the country. I am very interested in all aspects of Icelandic culture, especially the social culture, the influence of the history of the Vikings, the Icelandic Sagas, and the political culture.
I'll also be in Amsterdam for about a week after that, staying with my cousin mostly, but I might try to surf somewhere if I want to stay longer than she has time off from work. Also, I would love to meet up with a few people while I'm there, to hang out and see what the locals like to do there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would really like to meet and get to know local people while I travel, instead of seeing places as a tourist I would like to experience how people really live in those places. Cultural exchange is my main reason, as well as meeting people and making friends so I'm not totally alone in another country!
When I'm older and don't live at home with my parents, I am really excited to host on couchsurfing so I can meet all kinds of people from all over the world and hear about their lives without leaving my home, but for now I live with my family in a really rural area that nobody comes to anyway, so hosting isn't quite an option for me yet.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a little bit of a nerd, not in the annoying way, just that I really love books and reading. My favorite book is Daughter of Smoke and Bone, by Laini Taylor, but I have liked almost every book I've ever read, even required reading for school. ( I also really like to write, as you may have noticed from the lengthy profile! sorry! )
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Roadtrip around West Coast of the United States (California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington).
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach:
guitar, ukulele, singing (songs in English), drawing, egg making
Learn:
I would love to learn as much Icelandic as I can, and just as much as I can about Iceland in general in my time there, it would also be great to learn a song in Icelandic, and I'm always looking to learn how to cook new things
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can sing and play guitar pretty well, and I know a few songs off the top of my head that I would be happy to show you. I can play the ukulele a little bit too, but not as well as the guitar.
I'm not a great cook, but I do make really good eggs, and would happy to make you some eggs or be your assistant chef cooking anything.
I am really friendly and open to trying new things!
