I like the idea to get to know from the beginning people who live in the land I am travelling to, because that is, in my opinion, the best about travelling, to get to know other people from different cultures. Also it is very helpful and useful to get to know local people, mostly they know their city/country in totally different way than all the tourist guides and can show you their city/country from another, not that touristic, perspective.
