Hi! I'm Olivia, I'm 25 and I'm a languages graduate from London, UK. It's such a great city and I urge you to go if you haven't! I work freelance as a hostess, so my job is mainly chatting to people and serving food or drinks at fancy parties and football stadiums for two to three months, and then I go away travelling. Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I absolutely love to travel - the more I see and experience, the more excited I am about visiting more and more places, trying new things and just living somewhere different if that's for a few hours, days or even weeks.

To me, the people you meet when you travel are way more important than the places you see. I love bumping into all sorts of people as I go, and find those encounters and random conversations are always the stories you find yourself repeating months down the line, not the monument or attraction you went to.

Interests

Cooking and food are real passions for me. I’m currently experimenting with more plant based foods because of worries about the environment and efficiency, but I love to try what’s local or traditional when I’m travelling, whatever that may be. I LOVE a good night out, dancing away, and equally love taking the time to prepare and share a meal and chat all evening.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m mad about the film 10 Things I Hate About You. It’s cleverer and funnier than your usual romcom, and Julia Styles is just the ultimate sassy female lead. I always heard people saying they've watched their favourite film 50 times, and until I watched this one, I couldn't believe it was possible. But now I can completely understand.

And I’ve an utterly unhealthy and macabre obsession for murder mysteries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked with a friend from Brussels to Vienna and it was incredible! It was 1600km+ of unplanned spontaneous travel and I loved it. And then broke my hand and experienced Austrian hospital, but that’s by the by.

Then I hitchhiked with the same friend from the east to the west coast of Canada...

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about other people, about traditions and customs, and ways of life. To think that different nationalities can be so relatively close geographically and yet be so different in their habits is fascinating.

I’m also mad about dancing. I’m not especially good at it but I lose my mind dancing madly on nights out, and dream of becoming wildly talented. I’ve done some salsa and love it, so if you can teach more some more, or any other style, I’m down!
