About Me

The concept for "Yes Man" was based off of my life. No, not really but I love new experiences and am always willing to try new things.

I have been described as "bourgeois grunge" by my economics professor, an eco-retro feminist by an old English professor, and as a "postmodern hippie" by the friend of a friend. I'm glad I can't be defined by traditional models.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A need to see as much of the world as I can on the smallest budget possible. By the same token, travel is of course thrilling, but meeting new people is an adventure of its own.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mainly folk rock and classic rock but really I listen to everything I can get my hands on. My favorite band is Led Zeppelin, hands down, but you'll find me listening to the Gipsy Kings, Neutral Milk Hotel, Blues Traveler, CCR, The Pixies or even my favorite opera, Carmen.

Movies: Even my movie taste is influenced by my love of music as my two favorite movies are Once and Les Choristes. Other favorites include Donnie Darko, The Godfather, The Big Lebowski, anything Hiyao Miyazaki, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, School of Rock and Shaun of the Dead.

Books: I must be ahead of the curve because my favorite books have always been dystopian novels/series. Vonnegut is my favorite author and my favorite book is a toss up between Cat's Cradle, To Kill a Mockingbird, Lord of the Flies, Animal Farm, and The Giver. I grew up with Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quintet (A Wrinkle in Time) and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass) and continued my love of epic series with the Game of Thrones series and the Hunger Games.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Held a baby panda, fell off a fast train in Mumbai, hiked sections of the Grand Canyon, got stuck in a hail storm on the Great Wall of China, had a conversation with Christopher Eccleston about Doctor Who.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach you to play the piano if you teach me guitar as well as any bits of language I have picked up over the years. I will learn anything you are willing to teach me. Seriously, I have the weirdest amalgamation of skills and hobbies of anyone I know and I am constantly adding to the pile.

Let's drink wine, explore the town, cook new foods, have a jam session, dance the night away. Let's hangout.
