About Me

ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm currently a road warrior consultant so unable to host, but feel free to ask for suggestions on where to go in Minneapolis or Philadelphia!

I love eating out at random restaurants, finding that perfect little hidden coffee shop, exploring and getting completely lost, meeting new people, learning new things, hitting the town but also chilling in with wine and a movie.

PHILOSOPHY

Boredom is caused by a person's way of thinking-not their situation.

Chain restaurants are only good when they're the only option that won't give you food poisoning. Amendment: Also when traveling and they have crazy things on the menu- i.e. squid ink burger in Tokyo McD.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've surfed a few times and enjoyed the experience a great deal! Buck has never surfed, though, so I'm trying to get him into it so he sees how great it is:-) We're a very active couple and would love to explore the city with anyone who is in town-even touristy things, we're new, it's all fun and exciting for us!
When we are able and we move someplace bigger, we'll host, but for now we live in a tiny tiny downtown apartment. Unless you're comfortable sleeping on the floor, in the kitchen, knowing that a vicious Siamese cat may attack you during the night, you definitely would not be comfortable staying here- but we would be happy to have you over for dinner/drinks before hitting the town!

I've had a million good moments and a small handful of bad, the main things I've taken away that ensure a positive experience are:
1) Be up front about expectations for the beforehand (both sides)
2) Be respectful
3) Be honest
4) Give of yourself and have a good time:-)

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOOOVE to read, and I'll read anything and everything I can get my hands on. One of my favorite things to do to ease into a new place is people watch/read at a local coffee shop/pub.
Having said that, I can come up for air and be quite social, too- I think movies are equally fun if they're esoteric indie films or the latest action blockbuster. Enjoy theater, and have a soft spot for comedy clubs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bribed a zoo-keeper to pet a lion in Cairo.

Teach, Learn, Share

When traveling in any country with different social customs-remember to behave according to those standards and not your own!
If you're a western woman, wearing a niqab in arab countries is actually quite liberating and will give you more of a chance to experience your visit as a member of the city.
Always have pens and paper with you. Always.
