CURRENT MISSION
To appreciate every living moment.
ABOUT ME
In my past travels I have really enjoyed learning about the local way of life, which is why I am interested in couch surfing. I love meeting new people and experiencing new things. I think that spending time with people from cultures different from your own is the best type of education there is.
I recently lived with a family in Copenhagen, Denmark, and it was the most wonderful experience. I loved adjusting to a new way of life. The biking and public transportation were such a breath of fresh air from the way I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The weather was great: cold and beautiful. The best part, though, was the people. I love how their attitudes and ideas about life and personal relationships challenged and educated my own ideas.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm sort of piled under books this semester, but if you talk to my roommate, Ryan, who you can find on my friends list, then he can let you know if our couch is free!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't done much couch surfing myself, but I have had a wonderful time hosting a hoard of Australians at my little house in the past. We had a wonderful time together, and I loved showing my couch surfers around New Orleans. Unfortunately life is a little to busy right now to be hanging out with all kind of lovely people.
This idea kind of started when I moved to New Orleans. So many people have preconceived notions about what New Orleans is like, and I really love introducing my friends and family to parts of New Orleans other than Burbon street when they come to visit me. There are so many culturally rich places, so much good food in better parts of the city, and I am sure that this is true for many other cities that are popular tourist destinations.
Interests
My interests primarily include architecture, photography, biking and bicycle repair, reading, cooking, and gardening.
My demanding school program in Architecture has taught me a lot about the meaning of "free time." Over the past few years I have really come to enjoy quiet, relaxing moments with friends. My focus on quietness in life is an effort to appreciate every moment in life. I want to experience the feel, sound, and smell of a place. The busyness of everyday life often inhibits our ability appreciate these little things, but I hope to discover them everywhere I go.
