About Me
Cześć, hi, hallo, živijo!
My name is Oliwka and I am a cheerful girl from Poland:)
First things first, I am a curious person. I want to know everything, about many topics. I ask many questions, and sometimes it might get annoying:'D Can't help it. I also read many literary reportages, on both Polish and foreign topics, and often like to share some thoughts about them. What can I say, I love a good conversation:')
I am a coffee person and usually can't start a morning without a cup of latte. So, if you decide to hang out with me, you're doomed to do a stop at a coffee shop. If we meet in Ljubljana, I might take you to my favorite coffee spot in the city.
A good walk or a good hike is what I live for. I adore spending time outside and I can do even twenty-five kilometers in one day if I want to. Since I moved to Slovenia, I started enjoying hikes, but for now, I am doing slightly lower ones. Usually, when I visit a new place, I refuse to use public transport, so I can see as much as possible. I make unwalkable cities walkable hahaha
I am very much into languages. I studied Applied Linguistics (English-German) and I am fluent in Polish, German, and English. Now, since I live in Slovenia, I am learning Slovene, and I must say, it goes really well:) I especially like the topics of language perception, psycholinguistics, multilingualism, etc, so if I tell you that your language sounds to me like dripping water or some other ridiculous remark, don't get surprised.
A few years ago I was a stay-at-home person and liked to be closed inside my comfort zone, I was not even thinking about possibilities outside of my country. Then, covid happened, and 1 year of online studies really hit hard my mental health.
Tired of being in one place, I applied for a semester abroad in Riga, Latvia... and I loved it so much, that later I applied for another Erasmus, this time to Budapest, Hungary. After finishing my Bachelor, I went to Slovenia for one year of volunteering (and it's already half of it, time flies). Since Riga, I am very keen on travelling.
I more than appreciate all the opportunities that were given to me. I am trying to learn as much as I can from each experience and each person life puts in my way. I think life is a collection of experiences and everything happens for a reason, gives you some kind of a lesson. We should use the best of our time and go for the opportunities we receive. I think many decisions I took in recent years were kinda random, but I made them all accordingly to my gut feelings:) What can I say, they were not wrong for sure, I am more than happy with the place in life where I am now!
