About Me

I'm Olle.
I like bad jokes, have travelled a lot, I respect EVERY religion (but I'm not religious), I know a little of most major languages (phonetically), I love google maps and I like to read Wikipedia and other sources of info about other countries. My friendslist on Facebook contains 70 different nationalities (I have met them all (except 2) In Real Life (IRL)).
My speciality is "no extra cost" tourism. That means: buy a multi-day commuter card and travel on a 2 hour boat ride for no extra cost. Go to the highest point in Stockholm and enjoy the view (free), etc.
I'm pretty easy going and I'm a collector of all kinds of alcohol (118 kinds of Whisky/Whiskey!)
I like walking in the mountains. Walked 21 times in 8 countries (including Nepal and Tibet).
My main sport is Disc Golf. It's like golf, but with discs (frisbees) instead of a club and a ball and baskets with chains (instead of holes). The normal size of a Disc Golf course is 18 holes. I played 163 rounds during 2017.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like travelling a lot. Been to 15 countries in 2017 (100+ nights abroad). During 2017, I met over 80 nationalities. Been to a total of 39 countries.
I like to learn a little of the language/languages in the countries I visit.
For instance, I can say "Cheers!" in about 30-40 languages. The longest one is in the Mongolian language.

When I was travelling in Central Asia in 2017, I realized that I liked hostels better than hotels. The main reason was that the people in the hostels were more like me.

They were a little more adventurous and made longer journeys than the average hotel guest. I met a French couple that had been cycling in Asia for a year (!), for instance.

So I think I will meet more of that kind of people in the Couchsurfing community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have almost 5500 songs in my main Spotify playlist, so I like most kinds of music.
My favorite is alternative/"indie" music: Nick Cave, The Cure, Interpol, Wovenhand, The Cadillac Three.

Movies: Cidade de Deus (2002), Le jour se léve (1939), Harakiri (1962),Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000).

Books: JRR Tolkien, William Gibson, George Orwell, Knut Hamsun, Aravind Adiga.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked around the holiest mountain in Asia: Mount Kailash in Tibet. It's a thousand year old pilgrimage route.
I did it in 2017: May 29th and 30th. We also visited the holiest lake in Tibet: Lake Manasarovar. I trained 9 months to do the trek.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic language skills in many languages (just phonetics). Skills that makes you a more polite tourist!

If you want to learn some basic self defence in Karate, I can do that as well. (Don't be scared).
Having said that: Karate is not very good for self defence. Jiu-Jitsu and Aikido is better.
BUT, Karate is good enough if you know it well. I started with Karate in 1984.
So if you know some Martial Arts, that would be cool. I want to learn more.
