Overview
About Me
I have been a Couchsurfing member for 12 years, and it never ceases to amaze me how much it has impacted my life. This platform has opened the doors to countless experiences I would never have discovered otherwise. I can still recall how shy I was during my first meeting with people through the couchsurfing.
Born and raised in Tasmania, Australia, I have spent the past four years residing in the Netherlands. Part of this time was dedicated to pursuing my Master's degree in architecture at TU Delft. Recently, I traveled to San Francisco for two weeks and am now spending three weeks in Georgia.
My primary goal at the moment is to travel and reconnect with old friends and couchsurfers from my past adventures and other social networks. So far, this approach has worked well for me, allowing me to bypass hostels most of the time, even though I do really enjoy them as it lets me meet other travelers. I work remote at the moment so it lets me travel for almost half the year.
Current Mission
Maximize my potential, learn as much as possible, and be an ambassador for Tasmanian tourism.
I aim to host anyone I've previously met anywhere in the world and promote Tasmanian tourism. By using couchsurfing as a means of sharing my passion for Tasmania, I strive to provide memorable and unique experiences for my guests, steering them away from tourist traps and towards more worthwhile locations.
About Me
Every time I visit Launceston and Tasmania, I am reminded of how much I love the city and the island state. I believe it is the perfect place for my future. I have also spent a semester in Albuquerque, New Mexico studying architecture, and I would not hesitate to return to this vibrant location, which shares intriguing similarities and contrasts with Tasmania.
After finishing high school in 2009, I took a gap year (which turned into two) and lived in the Whistler/Vancouver area. This experience was transformative, as I was mentored by many incredible individuals who helped shape me into the person I am today. They generously shared their knowledge, and I extended the same hospitality to any of my friends who could visit me in Canada.
Philosophy
My life philosophy is to live, work, and continually learn as much as I can about myself and the people around me. Each country I have visited has presented me with unique and unexpected experiences, enriching my perspective on the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
How I Participate in Couchsurfing
I love how this website works, as it bridges the gap between tourists and locals, making it easier to explore foreign cities and connect with people.
Couchsurfing Experience
One of my most memorable Couchsurfing experiences was with Kie in Seoul, South Korea. What I initially thought would be a one-night stay turned into 25 days spent together, making it one of the best experiences I've had through Couchsurfing.
Other notable experiences include:
- Recommending Tasmania to numerous travelers who subsequently visited and enjoyed the destination.
- Meeting a Couchsurfer for a drink in Tasmania, which led to us traveling Southeast Asia together for a month. A decade later, we remain friends and catch up whenever I visit Berlin.
- Attending a meetup with 30 other people in Hanoi, Vietnam to enjoy street BBQ food, which was also one of my first meetups.
- Meeting lifelong friends with whom I've traveled Southeast Asia and others I keep in daily contact with.
There are countless more stories, and I'd be happy to share them if you host me. I am grateful for the existence of such a wonderful community. Although the platform now requires payment, it helps reduce spam and maintain the quality of interactions, much like my experience with Twitter.
Interests
Running, mountain bike riding, walking, hiking, backpacking, hitch hiking, cooking, drinking good beer, drinking good coffee, drinking hot water, drinking mate, meeting new people.
Snowboarding when I can, which doesn't happen that often as Tasmania only has one good weekend a year.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Sauna at a Finnish summer cabin via a host I met on CS
-Visiting and travelling around Morocco with Humza who I originally met in Korea
-Traveling to Lofoten in Norway
-Meeting and living with Kie in Seoul for 25 days; this was one of the most humbling and generous experiences I've ever had from couch surfing and it is something I will remember for ever.
-Visiting Yangoon technical university Architectural department
-Coming back to Tasmania after living away for two years and really appreciating the natural environment, and how unique the bio-diversity is.
-Traveling with various couch surfers though new countries and making life long friends without couch surfing I wouldn't be the person I am now.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm lazy when it comes to cooking but I do know how to make a really cheap meal out of absolutely nothing. I would really like to learn another language since I didn't have the opportunity while I was in high school. (I originally wrote this in 2013) please remind me that I need to work harder towards this goal. - Still a work in progress, my dutch is getting to a A2 level :)
