About Me

Seeing so many people waste their lifes ... trying not to waste mine.

Sorry to write this, but commercialisation of Couchsurfing has made it nescessary - If you're new here: Start by hosting people yourself! Also, do not send impersonal requests, if you need a bed and that's all, try Airbnb, that's much better suited to your needs. Sorry, we have been getting plenty of identical copy and paste messages, so obviously not even a single line of our profile was read ...

Cycled home from Australia from July 2015 till 2018 with my partner Lisi. Her CS profile on https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/757414 . An amazing way to experience places, people, distance, change ...

We have a blog about our trip, but be aware stories are not exactly up to date! :) https://www.wanderingthoughts.org or FB https://www.facebook.com/wanderingthoughtscyclinghome

Dear guest(s): We love last minute requests, but please remember that we may change plans just for you, or turn down someone else for you! Simply not showing up/not replying is *not ok* and kills the community - people have stopped hosting for such reasons!

ABOUT ME

I love being outdoors, especially cycling, though I'm excited about computers and especially the internet as well. Interested in other people's concepts of life, I'm always up for a good conversation. Also music is very important to me. I'm rather rational in my thinking, and I love people who are not. I like making plans, though that doesn't mean I like to stick to them.

PHILOSOPHY

Give and take, but don't check the balance. It's not about getting the most with the least effort!

Traveling to me means to experience people and places. Not to go places. It takes time. Consequently, I don't like airplanes. They push loads of CO2 into the air and drop you at a totally different place without letting you know about the distance you actually covered.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Spread the word about hospitality networks to good people. Host people. Give some humanity back to this commercialized world.

Interests

First of all, I love cycling - it's fast, it's cheap and it's healthy, even ... so that's my favorite way of traveling. When I can't be outdoors I'm probably inside, sitting in front of my computer working on the net. I love cooking, anything spicy and exotic preferably.

Then there's politics, the world, its cultures, its people, its nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is important to me. While at the moment I'm not making any music myself, I love listening especially to Ska & World music, and experimental, weird, electronic, chilled, and other kinds of music as well. So I don't have any favorite just know, but usually prefer small to big (names). My last.fm profile tells you more.

Books ... 1984, by George Orwell. Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck. Hermann Hesse, the Steppenwolf. Dostoevsky's Crime & Punishment. Erich Fromm. Oh, I'm bad with names and titles. Would add a lot more otherwise;o)

Movies: La vita e bella (with Roberto Benigni). Dogville (Lars von Trier) was also a lasting experience, it's just about conversation ... every sentence has been thought-out well, develops the characters ... great! Hotel Rwanda. Our daily bread. The Edukators. The Simpsons!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There's not the ONE amazing thing ... rather lots of smaller ones!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well basically everything that has to do with Internet and Computers, Media, Design. Or bicycles.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories from the road, its people. Food. Coffee. Anything about cycling. Fix your bike, computer ... ?
