About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding peace within by being able to love more truly.

ABOUT ME

My mother is Italian and my father US-American. I have traveled a lot between and lived in those two countries as well as in Switzerland.

If I start reading something I must have at least another three books to read at the same time... sometimes I can manage, others I just focus on one, and others I never really get anywhere with any of them.

I really enjoy music and art generally, but art is not my main focus. I like to do many different things but fully focus on what I really want to do once I decide what it is. The fact that I act on my idealism sometimes makes people doubt whether I am crazy or not, since I otherwise appear to be open to others' priorities and points of view (as if the two could not go together)...

But what you should really know is that I have a passion for Peace Education and believe in Love as the one thing we ever really need to learn how to do.

PHILOSOPHY

"Panta rei." - Heraclitus

"Negli occhi della gente si vede quello che vedranno, non quello che hanno visto". - Alessandro Baricco in "Novecento"

"So di non sapere". - Socrate

"It's what you read when you don't have to that determines who you'll be when you can't help it." - Oscar Wilde
(courtesy of Michelle Maag :-)

"There is no way to happiness- happiness is the way." - The Buddha

"Follow your bliss."- Joseph Campbell

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” - W. Clement Stone

"I have a dream." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
(something we should all have the courage to say)

"We don't inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children." - David Brower

"Eighty percent of success is showing up." - Woody Allen

"The mind of a child is where the revolution begins." - Immortal Technique

"You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The most morally troubling thing about killing (...) is that after a while it is no longer morally troubling." - Michael Pollan

"I love..." - me
(something else we should all have the courage to say)

"Love is progress if you could make it last." - Black Eyed Peas

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The self cannot be self without other selves." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

"We are caught in an escapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

"It is no longer a choice between violence and nonviolence in this world; it's nonviolence or nonexistence." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

"We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?' Actually, who are YOU not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small DOESN'T serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. ALL of us. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Nelson Mandela

"Being alone doesn’t mean that you’re free." - Jack Savoretti

"...take the hand of a quiet man." - Jack Savoretti

"I am going nowhere, would you like to come too?" - Jack Savoretti

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Travel and welcome travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots... but it was never called CouchSurfing. Many years ago my mother had a very similar idea to start some kind of network, but never did. Who knows, it might be called something else otherwise! ;-)

Interests

In my life I have played clarinet, basson and sung, I now play a little guitar, I am a vegetarian, I love to travel, I am into Zen, I like many different sports but none in particular.
I appreciate water and think it's an essential element to have where one lives and I love sailing.

Music, Movies, and Books

La vita è bella
Forrest Gump
Crash
Garden State

Any kind of music, except hard/punk rock, house/trance/techno... I don't even know the difference between all those kinds. Having said, that, there are some exceptions.

Mostly essays about philosophy, spirituality, human nature... anything thanks to which I feel I would grow as a person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A perfect rainbow over the Zambezi river between Zambia and Zimbabwe as elephants were swimming from one side to the other.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some languages and I love to learn them. Most of all I like to think about life, the big questions, not sweat the small stuff. I like to put everything in perspective, and the exchange with other people helps one to do that.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, France, Japan

Countries I’ve Lived In

Italy, Switzerland, United States
