Chi sono

Hi Everyone!

My name is Olya and I am a very friendly, adventurous, creative, laid back and easy going person. I grew up in Ukraine and moved to the United States, California, when I was 12, so I practically spent half of my life here. While living in the U.S. I was able to get my Associate's and Bachelor's degrees in Communications while also studying arts, graphic design, psychology and interior design. I absolutely love traveling, meeting new and interesting people and making new friends anywhere I go. I am also very passionate about music, nature and art and believe that life without these very important aspects would be very colorless and boring. My absolute dream is to travel the world, discover all the countries that I have never been to and get an eye opening experience on all the amazing cultures that are out there. I believe that life has so much to offer and one of the best ways to experience it is by visiting all the amazing and exotic places on our beautiful planet, trying different foods and learning about the unique cultures that will forever inspire me as I go through with my journey.

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

I would love to visit different countries and cities, but most of all, I want to meet all the amazing people that will be willing to meet me and be so kind to host me for a night or two at their place, and maybe even show me around the cool places I have never been to. I will be very happy to return the favor later if they will want to come to California and have a place to crash, and will definitely take them to all my favorite spots around!

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Okay, this might be a little crazy, but when I went to Mexico something happened to me that I never expected to happen and it was probably one of the most scariest and amazing things. One day, me and my other 3 friends went fishing with a local fishermen in Syulita, who promised us a great day on their boat along with some fresh sashimi after we would catch some big fish. The night before we had all been drinking and that day I was the only one who felt very sick. My sickness went away as my friends were talking me into going with them and I finally decided to go. Ten minutes after we got on the boat and were already out in the ocean, I started getting extremely nauseous to the point where I was throwing up non stop and nothing was helping me at all. The fishermen were giving me anti-nausea pills, water, juice, food and anything else that could possibly help, but nothing did, and I felt like I was going to die. It was one of the worst sea sicknesses I have ever had in my life and the fishermen did not want to turn around and take me back to the shore, saying that we were too far in and I had to just deal with it. I tried getting into the water and swimming for a bit just to make the sickness go away, but even that didn't help me. I told the guys that I really must get to the shore because it has now been over an hour and I still didn't feel any better, only worse. They finally agreed to drop me off at a random island filled with forests and beautiful beaches and not a single person was on it. The island was huge and far away from where we came from, so I got very scared, but I had no choice but to swim there from as close as they could drop me off from since there were reefs everywhere and the boat couldn't make it to the very shore. My friends put a waterproof case on my neck with my phone, $20 and a few anti-nausea pills, and I took off... Even though when I made it to the island and scratched myself up on the reefs, I was very happy to finally be on the ground where I could just lay and not feel like I'm constantly floating and moving . I felt so at peace that my sickness instantly went away and I was just laying there all alone on this huge unknown beautiful island, breathing deeply and looking at the deep clear blue ocean, just happy to be there and be alive and feeling normal again. Even though I was very upset that my friends left me there and not one of them decided to come with me to keep me company, I realized that I was happy and content being alone with my thoughts and just alone. Shortly, I decided that I should start walking along the shore down towards where the people might be, but I really wasn't sure where that would be, so I was just walking and hoping to maybe find someone eventually who could help me. I knew that my friends would be coming back for me after they were done fishing, but I didn't even care anymore, I liked walking and exploring the amazing uninhabited island I ended up on. I found all kinds of old fish and animal skeletons and shells, something I have never seen before in my life and didn't know what they were. I walked for about 2 hours until the sun just started to set, then I finally saw our boat with my friends waving at me and yelling my name in the distance. I was so happy to see them, I knew they would come back. It was one of the most amazing, interesting, unexpected and unique experiences I've ever had and I am happy that I got to feel what it would be like to be stranded on an uninhabited island.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I believe that I can be a great teacher and I know many things that I can teach another person, such as cooking unique tasty dishes, playing tennis, painting, speaking Russian and all about Russian and Ukrainian culture, and much more! I would also love to share my past life experiences since my life is full of cool stories and share the way I see life, because I believe that it's good for others to see life from a different perspective and know about the different ways that other people live their lives as well.
I definitely know that I will learn some great things from others and am always willing to learn as much as possible, I am constantly naturally curious about everything and love meeting people who like to share with others and educate on the useful things that they know, which others don't.
