About Me

i'm Omar Ahmed, a filmmaker, sound recordist, and storyteller based in Mombasa, Kenya. I have a deep passion for capturing real stories, whether through film, behind-the-scenes work, or sound recording. Every person I meet has a story, and I love exchanging experiences, cultures, and ideas.

I’m also an open-minded traveler at heart, always excited to meet new people, take on new challenges, and explore different perspectives. Hosting travelers in my city is my way of connecting with the world while sharing the beauty of Mombasa and Malindi. its rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning coastline.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love sharing my knowledge and experiences in filmmaking and storytelling, especially in sound recording and behind-the-scenes work. If you're into media, we can exchange ideas or even create something together! Music is also a big part of my life, and I enjoy discussing sound design, Nasheed, Traditional, and Swahili music, introducing you to unique sounds from Kenya and beyond.

Being from Mombasa, I can share insights into Swahili culture, teach you some basic Swahili phrases, and introduce you to the best local spots from historical sites like Fort Jesus to hidden beaches and amazing street food. I also enjoy cooking, so if you're interested, I can prepare Swahili dishes like pilau, biryani, or mahamri, and I'd love to learn new recipes from you too!

Beyond that, I'm always open to deep conversations about life, culture, and spirituality. I enjoy learning from others and exchanging different perspectives. If you're hosting me, I’ll do my best to contribute positively and make it an enjoyable experience for both of us!
