About Me

I'm an American-born, ethnically half-Arab half-Filipino traveller who works in the San Francisco tech scene. I love music (I played piano when I was younger and produce and DJ nowadays for fun), I'm totally into learning languages, and willing to eat just about anything in the world. Let's hang out!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and I find traditional hotels anonymous and boring. I see Couchsurfing as a good way to meet people from around the world, learn about the way of life and cultural norms in places I don't know well, and find authentic experiences when I'm traveling. I want to know what's good and bad about all the places I visit, not just the fairy tales tour companies sell—so I'd love to talk and hang out!

I may start hosting people, but I'll have to make the sell to my roommates first.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm into techno and house music, but I listen to a huge variety of music. I love hearing things I haven't hear of before. Hear my tastes from my Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/osdiab

Movies: I like movies that aren't simply "good" vs "evil"; and I really like psychological stuff. Some of my favorites are City of God, Brazil, and In Bruges; some recent ones I've enjoyed are Weiner, Birdman, and Zootopia. https://letterboxd.com/osdiab/films/

Also, anime can be excellent (or horrible). Steins Gate, One Punch Man, and Erased were amazing. http://myanimelist.net/profile/osdiab

I don't read nearly enough, but I've been enjoying some meditation-related texts like Tolle's "The Power of Now" and Hesse's "Siddhartha". I'm working on Lanier's "Who Owns the Future", Harari's "Sapiens", and I found the graphic novel "Asterios Polyp" excellent. Murakami's "Norwegian Wood" is a great classic as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's not about what you've done, but how you experience life.
