ABOUT ME

Originally hailing from the American Midwest, we met and fell in love in Hong Kong in the early eighties. Since then, we've raised three children in Florida, the Netherlands, and Taiwan (all of them in all the places not one in each). As international educators, we love to travel and find it difficult to stay in one spot for long!
I am a visual artist and last year raised 3,000USD with the sale of my work to help six children from Myanmar attend middle and high school. My husband, DJ, is a writer and an educator who raised over 100,000 to help with relief aid to the Myanmar people who lived in the delta area hit by Cyclone Nargis. We believe that reaching out and touching lives is as vital as it gets.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't sweat the big stuff it is the small stuff that will kill you dead!
I think it is vitally important to pay attention to all the little things you do every day. What do you look at first thing in the morning when you wake up? What do you look at before you go to bed each night. What do your dishes look like. It is the small stuff that creates a life, big stuff only happens once in a while. Visualize and affirm daily!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted a few couch surfers so far, but are looking forward to meeting more! We have also really enjoyed meeting and having dinner with various couch surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never stayed on anyones couch but I am looking forward to this in the future. We have met up with various people in various parts of the world and have had a great time sharing stories and life experiences

Intereses

Biking, Hiking, Yoga, Swimming, Travel, Reading, sketching in my Artist's journal, discussing the creative process and discussing ideas. I love figuring out how things work whether it be something mechnical or within an organization of people. I enjoy things in sequence and then I enjoy figuring out how to thwart the sequence.

Third class train ride from Beijing to Hong Kong with chickens,, goats and bags of rice and vegetables, old men young men women and babies. Favorite thing to do is to visit temples in Bali, temples in India, temples in Taiwan, temples in Laos, Temples in Cambodia, Temples in Viet Nam, Temples in Singapore, Temples in Thailand ....
