Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have 2 friends who want to meet up in Japan, one at the start of December, the other in the middle of January. By the end of December my friend leaves. That leaves me with roughly a week by myself in Japan. Originally I thought of skiing but that would seem to be expensive so I'm looking for alternatives. I'd love to meet locals during that time who are willing accommodate me. I'm more than happy to help around with dishes, cleaning, and cooking etc..
