About Me
NOTE: I am not in Atlanta right now, so I cannot accept guests. I am staying with a family in Berlin and more guests are not allowed.
I am a 20-year-old student who loves history, learning new languages, and traveling around the world: especially to places outside the West. I've been to 10 different countries but I'm hoping to increase that number as I travel this summer on study abroad. I can speak English and German (the second one at a uni level).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking for other people who might be interested in the same things, like hiking, so I don't have to travel alone. I love sharing food and experiences. Some of the best times in my life have been when I was staying in youth hostels, talking to people. I also think that we gain so much more by staying with people vs staying in hotels: we make friends, share interests and don't spend money!
Interests
I really love indoor pursuits, like reading books in wonderful cafes in corners of Berlin, visiting museums of modern and classical art, seeing beautiful architecture, and eating delicious local food. I also like city things, especially farmers' markets and flea markets. But I've recently started to get into walking, and I'm planning a hiking trip in the Black Forest. I would love to meet people who would like to join me!
In Berlin, I am involved in a group that does activities with migrants, like hiking and job readiness. I am also joining the group blog, so I'll write about how that goes!

Music, Movies, and Books
Indie bands like Cherry Glazerr, 70s folk like Fleetwood Mac, hip-hop like Kendrick Lamar and Earl Sweatshirt.
I like movies with a strong female protagonist: not perfect, not physically strong, but a well-rounded character. I really loved Thelma and Louise, and I really loved the Harry Potter movies and the Hunger Games trilogy for this reason.
The best movie I have watched recently: Get Out. It's a great horror movie that doesn't rely on cliches or gore! I don't even normally like horror movies but I liked this one!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked in China for a summer in 2016 without properly knowing the language. I taught English at a primary school and stayed in an apartment with my boss. The weather was usually 35 degrees plus and it rained constantly.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach Chinese phrases, and possibly a lot of things in German or English. I have decent grammar :)
On a less boring note, I have lots of travel advice, having been to a lot of exciting places in China including the western desert and the Tibetan plateau.
I would love to learn survival skills like building a campfire, getting clean water, building a bivouac, etc.
Or if someone could teach me how to ballroom dance, that would be nice.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Crazy stories of traveling, living and working in other countries. I can cook a mean stir fry! I can also offer lots of advice on visiting famous and not-so-famous destinations in any of the countries I've visited.
