About Me

CURRENT MISSION

driving from Germany via Turkey to Vietnam by car (www.ondetours.com)

ABOUT ME

As open minded, rather uncomplicated and interested in other cultures and languages as every traveler. Full of energy to explore and never afraid of trying something new.

We're also COOKsurfers, so if you're curious about the vast variety vegan cuisine has to offer, enjoy cooking yourself or just love good food / eating, let's have dinner together! :)

PHILOSOPHY

For me the key to a good and happy life lies in finding the balance between being content with what you have and being ambitious to achieve more. Aim high, but at the same time appreciate your accomplishments as well as, maybe even more importantly, the small things in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Offering a couch and hopefully being hosted by you someday. In a broader view bringing people closer to each other.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used CS for the first time in Australia and became a great fan, again during my stay in Turkey I was amazed about the difference it makes to be able to host and stay with people from all over the place.
Get off the beaten track and dive into the real life.

Interests

We will show interest in everything you offer to teach.
Help us improve our cooking and survival skills, tell us your stories and opinions, give us insights into your culture, lifestyle and anything you enjoy, and we'll be most grateful.

I guess overall (but too obvious) traveling, best if bundled with outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, kayaking, camping and whatever gets the adrenalin flowing!

Besides of that we enjoy photography, cinema, origami and alike.

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to read lots of books, then I came across the Internet. Nowadays I get back to the roots and enjoy books that give me real insights and help me understand.
Before I spent quite a bit of my time on movies, I reckon every country's independent filmmakers produce some decent material but I guess I got a spleen for Asian cinema.
Living in a car and on budget now makes it more difficult but we often watch an episode or two of "Le dessous des cartes" before falling asleep.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen fresh bear's tracks while hiking, swam nakedly in the sea at night surrounded by sparkling plancton and the stars above, climbed Mount Ararat, swam with whales at arm's length, both sky dived and bungee jumped within a time frame of 2 hours...

Teach, Learn, Share

We live on a vegan diet and enjoy cooking creatively a lot. Commonly people think that this narrows the range of dishes down, whereas I believe it's the other way round and in fact makes you rather try new something new.
Especially oriental cuisine offers a lot and we work hard to master our Hummus and Falafel recipes - you should try them!

Still every day we're amazed about the ingredients and dishes we come across in other countries and hope you share yours with us.

We recently started using Rosetta Stone to improve our language skills, but as the only true way to learn a foreign tongue is engaging in talks with native speakers, we hope to learn from you.
On the other hand both of us gave German lessons abroad and hope to be able to return the favor if you like.
