In many instances it would be great to be hosted. There are fantastic reasons to stay stay with locals or host travellers beyond just providing or receiving accommodation.
Most of the time though I find myself more looking to link with interesting people than a place to stay.

ABOUT ME

This is such a daunting little text field and I think that says a lot about me to start with.

So I joined couch surfing because all these places we visit and dream about visiting are not only destinations but more like 'experiences'. And people who have lived in a place for long enough know how to 'experience' that place for what it truly is. Therefore to truly get a feel for a new location, hook up with a local!

Couchsurfed in Uruguay with a great dude, in Rio with an awesome girl, in Rio also a great person helped out by just giving some information on the area. It was all pretty inspiring. Would love to host in the future..
