Mission in life is heightened awareness for everyone through somatic education, teaching people to recognize the functional unity of body/mind/spirit...getting in as much travel as I can, near and far, on slender budget; love my life work of exploring functional unity of body, mind , spirit by teaching movement classes and hands-on Feldenkrais Functional Integration

ABOUT ME

I am younger than my years, newly single, adventurous and working on my 'bucket list'...I am dedicated to doing more travel and teaching Bones for Life abroad...have taught in Mexico, much of Europe, Greece, what used to be Yugoslavia; as well as at formerly at home in Cambridge, , now Arlington, MA. South Africa, England, Australia is calling me...In my past life I was a music impresario in NYC, managing Ravi Shankar, Incredible String Band, Pink Floyd, worked for Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder...still love music, now most especially African and African based music, Reggae, have traveled in West Africa, been to Jamaica, Belize, Trinidad, other Caribbean islands, lived in Maui (brought Feldenkrais to the Island), as well as Big Sur, S.F., Venice Beach, Marin County where I more recently re-visited my old stamping grounds in Bolinas; hope to get to Maui soon to see if it is still where I would like to 'retire'...not that I ever will retire!, but to get out of the rat race a bit...Changing consciousness, one mind at a time...

PHILOSOPHY

"Do unto others as you would be done to"..."Comfort the afflicted, afflict the comfortable"...Gratitude is the attitude that gives one happiness and optimism and spreads it in the world...If you have the means to help, by all means, help...there is no separation of body/mind/spirit in reality..."Embodiment" is the best we can do here on Planet Earth...William James, Henri Bergson, Alan Watts and Tibetan Buddhism--Chogyam Trungpa, Pema Chodron biggest influence on me...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

First used in September in California, 2010, had wonderful experiences, some people offered to drive me to Bolinas from Oakland, although they could not host me....I see CS has potential to help me indulge my joy of travel and meeting people of different cultures all over the world...looking for my soul mate and my soul place...in that order, or maybe reversed, or maybe simultaneously! Presently have guest room which I don't list on couch-surfing, as word of mouth peers and colleagues find me through my Feldenkrais community fairly frequently, will re-list my rooom here soon when I am free to host...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had wonderful experience in Bolinas, although did not need couch, my hosts picked me up in San Rafael, drove me to Bolinas to a community celebration where I met several old friends from my hippy days in the '70's! then we visited with another couple up on the Mesa and talked about how it would be for me to move back to Bolinas, and set up a Feldenkrais practice there, have always harbored that dream for my 'semi-retirement'...everyone most encouraging, its still high on my bucket list, but checking out other places also, hoping to find 3-weeks couch surfing around Sarasota and Stuart Florida while I teach Feldenkrais classes there, hope CS makes it easy! wonderful concept, very altruistic people on this site with same values of "One World", "One Love" the more the world comes together through travel and social networking.

Centres d'intérêt

Neuroscience, somatic work, writing, helping people explore their body/mind unity and how to get back in balance if out of balance...travel with a purpose...being by the ocean or any body of water just to gaze upon as well as inhabit, Cenotes of the Yucatan are so wonderful...music, color, art, performing arts of all kinds, poetry, dancing, contact improvisation and African, want to learn tango and salsa, want to learn Spanish...travel and conduct trainings in Mexico, maybe Costa Rica, visit Argentina/Chile/Patagonia, Peru, know French a bit and used in West African Francophone countries, Mali and music of Mali my favorite, Cuba is calling Afro-Cuban dancing the best!...love "World Music", had an African store for 6 years in Harvard Square the "Talking Drum"...more than you need to know, but fun to think about!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

African and World Music, especially Baaba Maal, Youssou N'Dour; "The Brain that Changes Itself" by Norman Doidge, "Most Excellent something Hotel" , not good at remembering names of movies...I like off-beat; contemporary, experimental, art. Love to play Facebook, have 2000 friends I plan to visit all over world...

Woodstock, Concert for Bangla Desh, Ravi Shankar 5 hour Ragas, Pink Floyd... Horowitz comeback and also last performance...sang in choir with Rudolf Serkin playing piano/conducting Beethoven's "Ode to Joy", climbing up and down into Haleakala (Maui), sunsets I can never forget all over the world...Big Sur, Treasure Beach, Jamaica, Martha's Vineyard, Zipolite, Mexico, Dakar, Senegal... oh so many...

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Dancers, philosophers, home spun or formal, learned from the genius Moshe Feldenkrais and mentor, Ruthy Alon, creator of Bones for LIfe/Movement Intelligence and many other somatic educators, I have always had mentors, enjoy being a mentor now to younger up and coming Feldenkrais teachers, train people in Bones for Life and healthy living in general, seek to leave the world better than when I entered...Love playing Facebook too much, weaning myself as I start writing my book..."Memoir of a psycho-physical-sexual education"...

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

All of the above interests, happy to share Feldenkrais session when time and curiosity merit, good conversation, being a 'good guest', not expecting meals, etc...I mention this, as a CS Host friend of mine told me the story of a couch surfer coming back in late afternoon and asked "So what's for dinner tonight"??? Talk about presumptuous! Of course, if offered, I'm glad to share meals and whatever hospitality is proferred, also happy to be on my own, I'm a flexible person.
