About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is short so enjoy every day (when you can). Difficult days are a great learning opportunity. Oh, and to save Portsmouth Football Club from liquidation. Play up Pompey. Sept 27th 2012

ABOUT ME

My hair is not normally so pink!
I enjoy meeting interesting, new people
I like trying many cuisines, and
don't smoke, but do like a little good wine, or beer.
However, after horrid rum punch poisoning in Barbados in Oct 2012 I have signed the pledge !

At work, I have 3 lives

I work as a dental surgeon from 7.45am till 3pm, with a large children's list of 2500 kids and a special interest in children's dental development including how to fit braces without removing premolar teeth. In some English locales it may be that as high as 70 - 80% of cases have premolars extracted cf 20% of cases in California. We need to discover if we or California are nearer to the mark and ensure that the better way is introduced to the other

In the afternoons I like to race yachts, and am a RYA keel-boat instructor (Google SVYC sail mermaids) so if you like, and I am free, I can maybe take you sailing

Saturdays see me with the safety team at Fratton Park, the home of Pompey F.C., the F.A.Cup Champions 2008

PHILOSOPHY

Make my way through life helping others on the way, having fun whenever possible, and sleeping well with a clear conscience

Interests

Walking in the mountains: this is just the best

Skiing: I try to go to Luchon every year. it is beautiful with a great municipal spa

Golf: In Scotland nearly every boy plays golf. So I used to play a lot but now just play from time to time.

Football: I played all my life till age 30 when a broken leg forced my retirement. So now I help out with crowd stewarding at Pompey F.C. See the photo section

Swimming: I used to be a lifeguard in Scarborough 1975/6, in 1977 I was awarded University Colours for water polo, and still swim regularly; the Isle of Wight is the best place for sea swimming in England. I'll post a photo asap

Cycling: I cycled across the Pyrenees in a ten day tour when I was 40 with a then 74 y old buddy, Miff Mowle, (from Bordeaux to Barcelona) in 1997 - and will post a pic asap. Miff is still with us and is 89 in 2012, and living in France. Back in 1997 when we got to the other side of the Pyrenees we both needed a new
pair o' knees.

I cycle about a 20 mile circuit, one evening every week, in a small team of super-fit beer drinkers who insist on me going to the pub with them afterwards - so I do, just to be friendly!
