Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Setting up connections in various parts of the world. I've got tendrils reaching out as far as China and Mexico now, and I know they got my back when the spritz hits the fan. I'll try and help you out on your travels, and you can help me out on mine.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a total of 49 surfers (some were in groups, and not all of them have left a reference), and have been hosted on 4 occasions. My hosts were wonderful, and I'd like to think I was a good temporary tenant. I've been really impressed by the welcome I've received on all occasions, and they've taught me a lot about hospitality. I hope I can extend the same levels of hospitality to my guests now and again. The majority of those I've hosted were fine, but it hasn't always been great. Not every experience can be stellar, and the occasional bad experience are bound to come with the territory when you invite strangers into your house, or enter into someone's domestic sanctum. When it does go right, it's great to make a positive connection with someone from another part of the world, and for that, I'm glad that I joined this website.

Teach, Learn, Share
If you're a tourist, and want to visit places like the cliffs of Moher on your visit to Galway, it's not a bad idea to get a 3 day unlimited bus pass. The bus from Galway to the cliffs of Moher leaves every day at 10.30, and by taking this, you get an hour to walk around the cliffs before you have to take the return bus. This is probably superior to the tour buses, as they take the entire day to get there. Although you will see some of the Burren on the tour buses. Going to Clifden is a good idea, as from there you can visit Connemara national park. There is a pretty regular bus, but if you want to take the chance, you can also hitch-hike there.
