About Me

CURRENT MISSION

en camino con el sol - on my way with the sun

ABOUT ME

I'm interested in loads of things and always happy to learn something new. I am very sociable, quite cheerful and I easily get enthusiastic about stuff. I´m open-minded and easy-going, I love hanging out with friends or making new ones. I'm interested in politics and try to stay as active as I can to support good causes. Anti-racism and anti-sexism are very important to me. I'm very happy that I can pursue my idealism through my work, my last job was social work with refugees in Leipzig, Germany. I also try to live as aware as I can considering consumption and the sustainable use of ressources.
If there´s something I really want to do I try to realise it, like moving to the UK for six months to work in a youth centre or living and working in Togo, West Africa for a year. It was absolutely amazing in Brighton and an unforgettable experience to live in Togo and and I miss it a lot! I'm constantly travel-sick, filled with an itch to get up and see new places, meet interesting people and learn new languages. For me it's a very special experience to really arrive somewhere, feel at home and develop an everyday life in a new environment. I just love how much I can soak up and learn staying in a new place. I do love traveling too, meeting people from all over the world and stumbling into unexpected days and nights.

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing is impossible, follow your dreams and make yourself happy. Noone else can do that as well as you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I'm traveling in south america, so I can't really host anyone, but I'm happy to meet up, share skills or just chat.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been a while since I've used Couchsurfing. In September 2009 I traveled around Scotland for two weeks and I met some really nice people through couchsurfing (which I did for most of the time there). In March 2010 I couchsurfed in Brighton for a week and it was like a home. In 2016 I've couchsurfed in Bristol for a few days, everybody was so welcoming and warm, it was amazing. Couchsurfing has always been a good experience and I'm happy to get back into it.

Interests

I love music, everything about it, listening, playing, experimenting, dancing and being swept off my feet by a great song or concert. I used to be very strict about what kinds of music I liked, I would dismiss everything that wasn't hand made with a lot of guitar and drums. Well, things change and so I've come to enjoying all kinds of music, loud and heavy as well as chilled and relaxed. When I' m out dancing with friends I also enjoy electro and techno from time to time. I play a bit guitar, ukulele and drums, but not at all professionally.
Apart from that the list of my interests will hopefully never be finished. I love trying out new things and when I get hooked I can get very motivated and passionate. During the past few years and months that has happened with analogue photography, juggling, hula hooping, accro-yoga and most recently slacklining. I used to play a lot of beach volleyball and I especially love everything artistic and circus related.
I also like to go to museums, cooking (veggi and vegan) and dancing (I'd love to learn salsa) and I want to learn how to surf properly.

Music, Movies, and Books

The music part is taken care of I guess:) I like all kinds of crazy, funny or challenging movies or documentaries. I really liked the surf-documentaries "splinters" and "rio breakes".
Books that moved me in the past few years were for example "Mornings in Jenin" (it's about the Israel-Palestine conflict), "Let the great world spin" and everything by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, check out her ted talk "the danger of a single story" it's sooo good!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in a strike at our uni, we occupied part of the building and started alternative sessions and discussed all night about how things could be changed and how students can get more possibilities to participate. It was fascinating and the first time I felt like doing anything like politics.
Also trying to highline (slackline above a valley, lake or forest) was an amazing experience. Sliding out on the line with nothing underneath you, being in such a special place, where few people ever are. Challenging your fears and trying to stand up, its amazing. So far I didn't manage to really walk on a highline, but I will try again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share ideas and skills, especially juggling, slackline, music or photography skills. And I'd love to learn more Accro-Yoga, surfing and dancing salsa.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully a great day or couple of days, a nice meal (that I'm happy to cook, I love cooking), laughter and whatever the moment will offer.
If I have one of my analogue cameras with me, I can take a portrait of you and once it's developed, send it to you.
