About Me
NOW: Back in Melbourne, can't host but can meet up, or offer tips!
When travelling I guess primarily I want to have a great time in whatever cities I end up in, hopefully see great local bands/music, meet locals/travellers with a similar mindset to me. Things that I really love doing in cities I visit: seeing rad house shows and local bands, sitting in cute cafes, searching through thrift stores but being too fussy about sizing, record digging, weird art shows or installations, eating out every meal, pretending to be a local, making new friends (aww).
At home I work at a few public radio stations: one of them a multi-lingual station, one of them a ultra-cool alternative, music-loving listener-funded broadcaster.
PHILOSOPHY
I like new and weird, I feel these are my guiding principles in terms of what I seek in all parts of life - music, travel, art, culture...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had such a wonderful experience couchsurfing in Europe and North America in 2014, I spent a while trying to find hosts that have similar interests, tastes, mindset to me, and for that reason met such brilliant people that I instantly befriended. I wouldn't have seen half the things I did on this trip if not for that, getting to see how fun local people actually live in the city I was visiting gave me such a better experience than I would have had on my own.
YOU SHOULD MESSAGE ME IF...
You think we would click and get along well. You'd like to see local bands/gigs/music/shows, weird things, how regular young people living in Melbourne live, just enjoy hanging and making new friends. Melbourne is probably pretty boring if you are just coming to do touristy stuff, but it's an excellent place to live in terms of cultural events, music, art, food, fun etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: jangly unpolished garage pop with catchy melodies, bedroom pop, ultra-polished pop, folk, sad cowboy songs, abstract folk guitar, more. Usually anything weird, creative, yet still aurally/aesthetically pleasing. I work for an alternative community radio station called Triple R which might give you an idea (http://rrr.org.au/)
Movies: indie cinema, most of all documentary that experiment with form, truth. I also really like slow moving films.
