ABOUT ME

I'm that rarest of all beasts - a non-starving professional artist. This is not to say that I'm rich beyond anyone's wildest dreams; rather, I live a modest life with modest aspirations, and this seems to be working out, so I plan to continue.

I am a major advocate for, in no particular order: my home city, my favourite music, my own music, my favourite writers, my own writing, the concept of a universal good, soul-searching, and the idea that there is nowhere near as much evil in the world as people seem to believe.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel that we are here to enjoy life, and I feel that the best way to do that is by sharing it with other people.

I am happy to offer a sleeping space, to meet for dinner or coffee, or to play tour guide.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed one night in Cincinnati; had a great time. Had several guests in the meantime, surfed at the Royal Canadian College of Organists' 2011 convention in Hamilton, and again at the 2014 convention in London!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music of a high level of quality, no matter the style; my passion is for 19th century German organ music, but that's not necessarily widely respected! I also greatly enjoy folk music.
My choice movies tend to be comedies, and my choice books tend to be fantasies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Played the solo part of Rheinberger's first organ concerto, against an orchestra of various flutes.
