About Me
HELLO! My name is Ori! I am a pretty easy-going human who loves to get out of her comfort zone. Just like most of the people here I loveee travelling and meeting interesting humans along the way. I just graduated from university and I'm currently living in the South of France working as an English teacher. I decided to dedicate this year of my life to seeing as many things as possible and to really re-discover what makes my heart truly happy.
I was born and raised in Venezuela but have been living in the U.S for the past 9 years. As a result of this I feel like I have a very 'bi-cultural' identity. I don't consider myself to be neither fully Venezuelan neither fully American. Rather, I consider myself to be none... Or perhaps a product of those two cultures mixed? I believe that I am constantly transforming and evolving into another version of myself. So naturally every significant experience eventually becomes part of my identity. I don't believe I have just one nationality. I also don't believe I have just one fixed identity. I am the sum of allllll the experiences I've collected through the years: travelling, working, studying, going through the motions of life, enjoying the simplest pleasures, expressing myself through art, building relationships, following my intuition, listening to my body, etc...
Stuff I love/more stuff about me: I absolutely love cats and I have a kitty who is my baby. I love yoga as well and have been practicing it for over 6 years. During this year that I'm travelling I'm trying to practice yoga in every new place I visit! I like food too although I'm not the greatest chef haha. My favorite cuisine is Thai and Italian. I also love all kinds of comptemporary art. Writing and journaling are my outlet when I feel overwhelmed. I'm an extroverted introvert: I can talk and talk for hours if I'm comfortable with you and also make you laugh with my honesty and weirdness, however I absolutely need to have a little bit of time by myself every day. Staying in and watching a good movie with my blanket, kitty, and a glass of wine is my go-to nighttime ritual to recharge! I know a lot of random things about astrology, and although I don't 100% believe in it I still find it entertaining and interesting. I'm a strong advocate for the equality of the genders. Music makes my heart very happy! I've been to tons of shows and festivals in the past few years. I grew up near the beach so I'm totally a beach bum; the cold has been tough for me and this is in fact my first REAL winter!!! I'm very interested in international development, service-learning, and human rights law and I aspire to work in a related field after my travels. Lastly, I have a wonderful partner and we are planning on doing some couchsurfing together next year wohoo!
About my place: I live in an apartment in a gorgeous region of the south of France (outside of the city of Bordeaux.) There is a beach, a forest, 3 lakes, and sand dunes within driving distance from me (less than 40 minutes!) My town is not too lively during the winter months unfortunately, but I will still be happy to show you around this beautiful region and all the nature spots it has to offer. I have a big apartment with two rooms so you will get your own private room and bed. Be my friend!!! :p
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love connecting with other like-minded individuals. I believe every human has something to teach and to learn. I want to be enlighten by others and also share some of my wisdom with them. I'd also love to have the opportunity to learn about the countries I'm visiting through locals.
