About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to see loads!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the north of Scotland in the Orkney Isles. At 18 I left to study at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. I have worked for the last 10 years but I make sure I get my fix of travelling. I work all over Scotland for an energy company fiddling with wind farms.

PHILOSOPHY

I have two...
It's all about the adventure
and
It will all be ok in the end.

I always think that if you are relaxed about life it works much better than worrying. I'd much rather get wrinkles from smiling than from stressing. It's all about being as happy as can be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I began by surfing with a lovely couple in Finland. At the moment my job takes me all over my country so sometimes I can't host as I'm away.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My cherry was popped in Helsinki by Felipe and his lovely girlfriend.

Interests

I love to see the world overland. I want to experience every country in the world - so I've got a long way to go.
I'm happiest when I've got an adventure planned - whether it's a trip away to see friends or exploring a new country.
I also like to walk in Scotland's mountains. I am on a mission to climb the 283 tallest, a list called The Munro's. I have managed up 52 of them so far. I love being outside and I'll give anything a shot - and I usually end up embarrassed.
In Central America I learned to dive and it is awesome! Diving off the Galapagos Islands was something special!

Music, Movies, and Books

Michael Palin and Wiliam Dalrymple are two great writers I enjoy

I love Blur and 1990s pop.

I like a good comedy. Not so keen on horror...

No matter what some 'hard-core' backpackers say, a Lonely Planet is a good thing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been fortunate the last few years...
I watched the sunrise over Delhi with some peacocks, spotting shooting stars in Kashmir, I took a bath with elephants in Nepal, I went on a scooter adventure in Vietnam with three great friends and only fell off once, I took the Trans-Mongolian railway, I had the best chicken pie EVER in Taroudant - Morocco, I got sunburnt in Napoli and lost in Pompei.

I have also met some amazing people from all over the world who I am lucky enough to call my friends.

Diving in the Galapagos with hammerhead sharks, Manta Rays, White Tipped Reed Sharks, Green Sea Turtles... One of the greatest things I will ever do! The bar has been set and it has been set high!

I've visited 51 countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am hopeless at languages... I'm trying to improve though! If you can help me with a few words it would be much appreciated!
I am also rubbish at taking underground trains as I can never work out what direction I need to go and more often than not end up going the wrong way.
