I am a half French, half English backpacker on a crazy trip !

My goal is to circle around the planet using 100% hitch hiking as a method of travel !

I am a very sociable person and love meeting new people.
This is one of the reasons I love travelling on couchsurfing, I feel the experience is fuller and more authentic: meeting locals and living with them is part of the adventure ! I also hitch hike wherever I go to meet new people and have interesting conversations. I basically believe that the bigger part of a trip is what lies in between the different places you plan to go to and that those places are just the icing on the cake.

I am very interested in everything in life and am always up to do anything. I like hiking, visiting, going out, playing games, making things, cooking, just hanging out talking about stuff and listening to music.
I am a nature lover and enjoy beautiful views more than anything (especially a good sunset/sunrise or stars).
I used to do boxing and diving as sports.

At the moment I am attempting to hitch hike from France to the “Tierra del Fuego” (land of fire) in south Chili. During a full year I will only hitch hike however hard it gets to get there without polluting or paying for the trip. I share this on instagram if you want to follow @oscar_travels_light :)

As of now, I haven’t used m’y couchsurfing app much and have mainly used my friend’s account or directly with people who picked me up hitchhiking offering me a place to stay.
But I I have done it a lot :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people and I believe that when visiting a coutry, hostels make you loose a part of the journey and experience as you should meet the locals and live with them to get a real feeling of the Country itself.
I am also always up for taking people in and making them feel welcome in my own Country and home (Paris or my holiday house on Ile d’Oléron)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen mostly to rock at the moment and punk/metal, anything with guitar haha I loooove the Beatles… I used to listen mostly to old school rap from the 90’s and still do quite a bit I guess. I also love reggae, dub and different kinds of techno.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the moment I am hitch hiking around the world !! As I write this I am in Mexico and have only hitch hiked all the way from France (over 35 000km of hitching). It took me 2 boats and a private jet to cross the Ocean ! My goal is to circle round the globe back to France the other way using only my thumb !

I did a Bungee jump in New Zealand and traveled on my own by hitch hiking there for 6.5 months as my first travel solo.
I hitch hiked from Vilnius to Paris on my way back (after 6 weeks in India)
I also crossed the Atlantic on a Catamaran in 2019, walked the whole of the French Alpes during a 43 day hike in 2020, hitched from Paris to Albania in 2021 et hitched hiked in Iceland in Winter as well as working on a farm there in 2021 also.
