About Me
My name is Oscar, but I like when people call me Oski. I’m a 31-year-old Mexican guy with a big desire to travel the world and never settle down for a boring life. I grew up in a small but beautiful city in Mexico called Aguascalientes, and when I was 26 I moved to Canada to pursue my master’s studies and destiny kept me there. Since August 2025 I’ve been on a sabbatical year, because I want to take the time to ask myself who I really am, where I want to go and what I want to do. I don’t want to live the “standard” life society sometimes imposes: working 9 to 5 for decades, a mortgage, kids… I respect it, but I know it’s not for me. I’m passionate about connecting with people on a deeper level. I usually ask questions about life, fears, dreams, and lessons learned because I believe that’s where the real human connection happens. For me, traveling is not just about sightseeing but about sharing stories and moments. I prefer discovering hidden gems, tasting local dishes, and having long talks rather than just hopping on a tour bus.
Some things I enjoy: Running long distances (I’m training for a marathon in Africa next year!).
Practicing barbering : I love the idea of giving people a fresh haircut while also sharing conversations.
Exploring nature: I like planting, gardening, and spending time outdoors (maybe this is why I decided to stay in Canada)
I am learning my fourth lenguage: Arabic (tunisian dialect) I find it beautiful and challenging!
I’m a very respectful person with people and their belongings. I truly believe communication is the key to everything. I would be happy to meet, share meals, stories, or even go for a run together.
Gracias por leer :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Getting to know places through locals is the most enriching part of traveling. While I was in Tunisia this year, I had the chance to randomly meet people on the streets who showed me some truly beautiful spots I would have never found on my own. I believe that whenever two cultures meet, there’s always a lot to learn from each other.
I don’t know what my next destination will be, but one thing is for sure: I want to bring a little bit of Mexico to your home and your heart, and I hope to take with me a little bit of your culture, your language, and your life lessons.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a huge fan of pop music artists like Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Katy Perry, Ellie Goulding, Dua Lipa, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, and many more. I’ve even had the chance to see some of them perform live, which has been incredible :D.
I don’t usually watch a lot of movies, but one that really stayed with me this year is Eat, Pray, Love.
When it comes to books, I’m very interested in everything related to the Holocaust, as I find those stories deeply moving and important to remember.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In April this year, I bought myself a ticket to Tunisia and went completely on my own, no plan, no itinerary, just taking it one day at a time. Since many people there don’t speak french, I often had to communicate with hand gestures, which made every interaction unique and fun. I ended up being welcomed into strangers’ homes to share meals, visiting small towns, and realizing that Tunisians and Mexicans are not that different after all.
In August 2024, I rented a car and took a solo road trip to Maine from Quebec City. I slept in the car, had an amazing experience with German Shepherds, climbed Mount Washington, and lived so many new adventures — all in just one weekend.
