About Me
CURRENT MISSION:
After 9 years in China, I am taking time in my hometown to reconnect and learn.
I'm trying to find balance in life, to find a momentary, still place in a spinning world for which to plant my feet. Not to become stationary, but to know which way is up. The more I learn the more I realize how much I have yet to understand. Going on these little adventures helps me inch ever forward towards that balance, that understanding. And hopefully one day I will tilt my head back and laugh at the sky.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have forgotten what a transformative experience couchsurfing can be. The people I have had the good fortune of meeting on the road consistently open my eyes to new ways of being. Every person teaches me something and for this I am forever grateful.
Interests
Solo travel, good books, writing, teaching, a quiet place, authentic peoples, inspiring conversation, sliding across bare floors with socked feet, yoga, pizza (and in that order), shower beers, being unabashedly silly with my students, the sound of the wind in the trees, serendipitous surprises whilst on the road, singing loudly in the car, and you know, not taking life so seriously.

Music, Movies, and Books
Indie hipster shit, mid 20th century jazz, classical, BJORK, The Black Keys, old school trip-hop
Amelie, Tracks, Bronson, Les Intouchables, The Man from Uncle (really I watch the same few movies over and over ;)
Lots of nonfiction these days (social psychology mostly), but the classics I will always love : On the Road - Kerouac, Jitterbug Perfume - Robbins, The Sound and the Fury - Faulkner, The Book (On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are) - Alan Watts, Rumi, Vonnegut, Steinbeck, Orwell, Marquez, Camus, Nabokov . . .
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Opened the doors of perception on the shores of the Ganges in Rishikesh, India on Christmas day, 2009. Life hasn't been the same since. :)
