About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used Couchsurfing a few years ago (when I lived in France) and it was an excellent experience allowing to meet great people and discover places I wouldn't otherwise have thought of. Last but not least, it gives you the feeling that perhaps not everything is for sale in this world and not all interactions with people must have a financial dimension to it! I'm now hoping to restore my relationship with this fantastic platform. I can host in SW London (putting a 'maybe' as I am travelling a lot and often have friends/relatives sleeping in the living room, so can't guarantee the couch would be available). I'm travelling around UK a lot on a motorbike, trying to see more of the island - this is where Couchsurfing comes in super handy for me, as it is always nice to have a chat with someone local rather than just sit hopelessly in the nearest Costa :)

Interests

Politics, history, culture in Eastern European context. Don't get me started talking about Georgia, because I won't stop! :)

Economics - I remain a very lay person when it comes to that but I found it annoying that all I could say when a Lehman Brothers or a Greek bailout happens was 'what the heck??', so did a bit of reading and thinking to catch up.

Alternative dispute resolution - isn't it cool that there are ways of solving conflicts without courts (and I don't mean resorting to violence)?

Motorbikes. Motorbikes are awesome - they get you places and force you to really switch off from the real world for the duration of travel.

Traditional archery - thumb rings, hornbows, feather fetching and all that

Music, Movies, and Books

The Book for me is Arch of Triumph by Remarque, the movie is Big Fish and anything by von Trier.

I'm a libertarian when it comes to music, although I have the lingering feeling it has been an downwards spiral since Cobain's death, with a couple of remarkable exceptions!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've finally updated this profile after 4 years of inactivity. Wo-ho!

Teach, Learn, Share

Can tell you about London, in case you want to see more than Big Ben! I can also teach you basics of archery and explain why Warsaw is better than Cracow.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to catch up for a coffee in the City / Wimbledon area if you need advice getting your head around London. Generally happy to offer a couch in the living room (South-West London), but can't guarantee as I travel a lot. Ping me an email to check!
