About Me

CURRENT MISSION

only aiming at becoming a better person by meeting new persons, and discovering new places and cultures, no more no less!

ABOUT ME

Here we go!
I have been born and raised in Morocco, where I got to understand the importance of a cultural inheritage (whence my interest in any culture/counterculture I can get close to). I moved to Montréal to study civil engineering, but I quickly understood that I was ought to spend my life in a more creative state of mind: so I graduated, and decided to study architecture, the only domain in which I felt I could coordinate all my passions (ranging from music to cinema).
I am an outgoing person, always up for a good plan!

PHILOSOPHY

to be honest, I have no striking motto in mind.
all I know, and realize even more and more as days go by, is that we never live our present fully, we stay stuck to our past in different ways, and always project in our future.
time goes our way, we might as well live it without any regrets whatsoever.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm actually looking for couches to surf on this summer, but I'm open to hosting in the future, should it be in Montréal or Casablanca!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couchsurfing experience whatsoever, except at friends' places, so I suppose it's like day and night!
But I had great feedback from close relatives who used this website, and told me about stories that I wish I lived!

Interests

+music. I am a producer and a DJ of electronic techno-oriented music, with influences from world music and melodic vibes. I have also founded a progressive rock band along with two other good friends, we mostly play in Montréal. I might as well provide links for my and our music in case you're into this:

http://blank2014.bandcamp.com/ (we just started this one so please be indulgent! :) )

+architecture. I mostly love works from alberto campobaeza, carlo scarpa, and the veterans like mies van der rohe

+art. should it be photography (preferably black and white), video installations or paintings

+random walks in new cities in good company, with a beer in hand and lots of things to discuss in mind

+cinema. my favorite movies can go from fellini's "la dolce vita" to scorcese's "natural born killers"

+reading. right now I'm starting to grow a huge interest in quantum physics, especially in the quantum vacuum zero point energy. It's also incredibly interesting to see how this branch of physics shares parallels with cultural insights (one more reason for me to grow interest in other cultures!..)

+food, wine and beer (why lie?)

+most important of all for me... a good laugh!

... well I see I wrote kind of a novel here, so I might as well stop now!

Music, Movies, and Books

donnnnn't get me started!

I'll simply share the last three of each that I saw/heard/read:

movies: antonioni's "the passenger" , zucker's "airplane!" , and one of my all time favorites, "le grand détournement: la classe américaine" (I never laughed so much in front of a movie)

music: pink floyd's darkside of the moon, ostgut funf, neu!'s 1975, can's tago mago

-books: rodrigo dos santos' "die gottesformel", huxley's "brave new world", boris vian's "l'automne à pékin"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I had a life-changing trip in mexico in last december, we took a roadtrip from Tepoztlan (one hour south of mexico D.F.) and went up to Monterrey, where the mexican friend we were with lived. we were three on the road, and we really got discover each other during this trip, as the experiences were chaining. we were supposed to stay only a couple of days, but the length of our trip doubled, and my friend and I went back to montréal with stars in our eyes and left our hearts there.
