About Me

I'm an application engineer in power electronics, and my wife is a data scientist working in computational biology. We have two pet rabbits, who are both unemployed. Such a disappointment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to meet up with anyone visiting Villach. I can host sometimes, depending on my schedule. But definitely reach out and check, because my wife and I enjoy meeting new people.

I couchsurfed in Switzerland for a few nights while backpacking. I used to host when I lived alone, but then I had roommates for a long time and couldn't host surfers. I hosted a few CS parties in various places I've lived in the US, and used to be really active in the Philadelphia CS community.

Interests

I like to meet new people, drink wine, drink anything, eat international food, have adventures in new places, read, and watch movies.
I like fixing and building things. I used to run races and half marathons, and ballroom/swing dance. But lately I most just work and relax instead.
My wife is an enthusiastic gardener, and she also does lots of crafts. Otherwise, she spends most of her time working or cuddled on the floor with our two bunnies, Amper and Mojo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently, I picked up sticks and moved my entire life from Knoxville, TN to the Austrian Alps. My wife and two bunnies joined me. I think that's pretty impressive. My wife had just done the same thing five years earlier, picking up her whole life in South Africa and moving to America, where she met me. So we're working our way through all the continents, I guess. Antarctica will probably be last.

I drove into Northern Mexico, all the way across from Bahia de Kino to Chihuahua, mostly along la Ruta de la Sierra (windy mountain roads in terrible condition). Had dinner with a Mexican family at their little inn (which was really just their house). Saw two overturned bigrigs on narrow roads. Ate at a pizza joint run by German mennonites who settled in Cuatemoc during WW2. Didn't do any couchsurfing though, because we didn't have a computer or know where we were going.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can fix any technology you have issues with, probably. And I can also fix house stuff in general, or install things. I can't cook very well, but my wife can. She is also good with plants and animals.
