Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing to meet local people, learn about their culture, beliefs and ways of life. I want to see each place we visit as the locals see it. And of course I am always up for trying any local dishes.

Interests

I've loved hiking since before I was a teenager and I would conquer a new Monroe here in Scotland every week. The most important thing for me when travelling is to meet beautiful, friendly people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like almost all music, books and movies. At the moment I've taken a liking to some Spanish songs but if I had to choose my favourite music, for me it would have to be indie/alternative. I haven't read many story books unfortunately, I have read 10s of books on computer programing and I took a keen interest in computer security while studying for my masters in computer science.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was around 12 years old, slightly chubby and was relatively un-fit. Went on holiday to cape town, south Africa. There was this what seemed like this gigantic mountain, table mountain.
For some reason I had the urge to climb the mountain, and I did and it was pretty amazing experience. When I descended it was time to go to a family meal. We ate at a restaurant called "spur" and I had a steak that came raw with an almost red hot metal slab to cook with as you liked... it was the fist day that I realised I wanted to see the world and everything it had to offer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can semi-understand 5 languages and I always love to learn more. I also love to answer any questions about my home in the wild north of Scotland and I try my best to give a sense of what it is like there. I have hiked or climbed a lot of our mountains there and I have some amazing stories to share about the experiences, some of which I was lucky to come out alive from.

I am sociable and friendly, love to discuss everything from "What's your favourite movie" to "Religion" to "food" to "String Theory and the Theory of everything" to "why you should never, ever, ever use Python string concatenation or string parameters interpolation to pass variables to a SQL query string.
