About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Northwest Connection

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Seattle, went to Southern California for college, and have spent several years studying and living in various countries in Latin America and East Asia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing: I am generally limited to short weekend trips because of work. I am interested in surfing within Washington State, as well as in BC and Oregon on the weekends. Urban and rural are both of interest. I will ideally be doing some motorcycle trips to surf this summer.

Hosting: I live on Capitol Hill in Seattle in a fairly spacious studio apartment. I can comfortably accommodate three people. If you are interested in crashing at my place during a weeknight my doors are open to you, but you gotta roll with my work schedule a bit. Weekends are much more flexible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have benefited from the hospitality of many on my travels. I always try to put up friends and friends of friends when they are in my city. I enjoy being able to do this.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For a year I sat in on classes at a college in Ecuador, and one weekend we took a trip to one of our classmates houses way out in the boondocks.... Really, you had to cross rivers and stuff. From the point where the bus dropped us off, it was about a 20 minute walk through the forrest before coming upon her house. Her family lived up above the river in houses that were raised above ground in case of flooding. The place was filled with all types of fruit trees and there were animals everywhere, especially chickens, and boy were those chickens delicious. I am not sure if it was because we were special guests, but we ate chicken 3 times a day. So flavorful. We were living like kings.
When taking a pee in their bathroom one night, I was confounded by where exactly the waste was going (remember the house was raised). I didn't remember seeing any sewage drainage system or anything during the day. The next night, after an evening of drinking beer I went to the bathroom to find that it was occupied. I really had to pee, so I resolved to go outside to the bushes rather than wait. After climbing down the ladder, I saw a faint something falling from where the bathroom was......... Splat! All of a sudden every living chicken on that property came flying, scratching and balking towards the source of the sound. Dinner was served!
Somehow, all of a sudden, the place lost every last ounce of its rustic charm. =)

Teach, Learn, Share

I like learning about the history and human geography of different cities, and am more than happy to share what I know about the place that I live. Anybody know how to play blues guitar? That is something I would like to learn.
