About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm a youthful-looking, fun-loving guy who's open to trying new things! I graduated from University in December 2016 and did a 1 year graduation trip in South America, visiting all countries.
Now that I'm back in Asia, I wish to fully explore this continent and taste what it has to offer.
I love experiencing new things and believe stepping out of my comfort zone is the only way to grow. Here's my travel blog: https://myturntotravel.com
PHILOSOPHY
"Travel is rebellion in its purest form."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first time in Darwin, Australia and it was a really eye-opening and great experience for me. I met fellow couchsurfers from Germany and had a great time.
I also stayed with a Brazilian host in Curitiba, twice. I got a taste of what it's like to party with the locals, dancing Sertanejo, and watching a live football match in Brazil.
In Rio Gallegos, my host let me try mate and fernet, invited me to tea with his friends and helped to prepare a lamb BBQ. He also invited me to join his salsa class! Truly local.
I would open my place for a fellow surfer, but it is far from the airport, and far from the city center, thus there is no point. I am free to hang out though!
Interests
I am interested in internet marketing and the idea of having the freedom to work from anywhere in the world. That's what I've been immersing myself with.
Also, in preparation for my South America trip, I have taken up Krav Maga lessons, learning self-defence to keep fit, be confident and protect myself while travelling.
I started learning Bachata in Cusco and I LOVE IT. But I'm still bad hehe.
And of course, like everyone else here, I love to travel slowly, deeply, and getting to know other cultures.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love fantasy movies and (used to play) games like World of Warcraft and Game of Thrones, as I love the beautiful landscape, the magic, the feeling of escaping into another world - kinda like why we travel.
I read personal development books, biographies of great people, and any books I can learn: psychology, entrepreneurship, social dynamics, relationship, productivity, travel, public speaking, and anything on becoming a better person.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Skydiving, Scuba diving, Hang gliding, Sandboarding, Cliff diving, Canyoning, Bungee Jumping, Slingshot, Paragliding
Spent 2 weeks deep in the Amazon jungle in Peru and learning from spirit plants like Ayahuasca. Life-changing.
Lived in a village in Sri Lanka, and also one in rural Vietnam for 2 weeks each, teaching children English and building better facilities for the locals.
Fired a rifle, thrown a hand grenade, served the army.
Reveilion and Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro.
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe you can learn something from everyone, no matter if you like them or not. It could be a skill, a lesson, a story, anything.
I could teach basic Mandarin to anyone interested in learning the language.
Estoy aprendiendo español!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Having been in South America twice, I noticed there are very few Asian backpackers. So if you'd like to meet an Asian or know more about Asian culture, and especially Singapore, I'd be glad to share.
I served the military so you'll be sure I keep the place clean and tidy and I wash up after myself.
