About Me

I love life and everything in it. I am a mother of three. Two of my kids were adopted but I love them all the same and I can't remember which ones. I home school my sons and enjoy a loving marriage to an engineer on the submarine in the Navy. I am lucky enough to have had everything I have ever needed in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I found this site (which I love) because I am currently planning a trip across Canada with my sons. I will stay on it and host as much as feasible because I love meeting people and helping out as much as I can. We don't have a lot of space but I want to help wherever possible.

Interests

I love everything. As soon as I hear about a new thing, I want to learn as much as possible about it. As a result, I wind up having a lot of talents in a lot of areas. The best description that anyone ever came up with of me was to label me as a shaman/wizard. Another friend in the room heard and said "yeah, but also a genius/artist."
I prefer to be outdoors or with people.
I love creating things or learning things.
My favourite thing to do is whatever I am doing at that minute. I love living in the present. I have very much enjoyed hiking, geocaching, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and more. I would love to learn rock climbing as well. As far as indoor pursuits, I enjoy board games, puzzles, sewing, painting, drawing, scrap booking and any kind of party. We throw a lot of parties, I hope to have you at one of my famous brunches or tea parties if you are in town!

Music, Movies, and Books

I sing almost constantly. I never know the lyrics to the song I am singing so I just sing what I feel as I bounce around cooking or whatever we are doing. I grew up with the 50s and 60s as my music and probably love that or country the most. If we watch movies then it is almost always documentaries. I read anything. I prefer non -fiction but my librarian and book club leader are good at introducing me to new materials. I love the process of letting a book change a part of you and keeping a part of the author with you forever after that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a child, I assisted my mother in her mission of feeding and clothing the homeless. She started doing so when I was 8 years old and I took on a major role in that process as well as supporting her so that she could do her work and caring for my brothers full time. We had about 200 people a day and were blessed by donations from the community to be able to feed for 10 years out of our home. Our porch was a "free store" and we were available for counselling or support any time of the day. After 10 years of that, a benefactor blessed us with a home so that we could begin to house people and help them to get off of the streets.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching and learning are simultaneous experiences. You can't have one without the other in my opinion. I love to teach mindfulness, and questioning your own thoughts. I am blessed to be able to help people deal with their anxiety and to be able to learn from the many many kids that are in my home each day. I share everything I have and have never been disappointed.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Because of the wonder of the internet, I can get to know a host before we arrive and can bring some art or other resource that a host is in need of. I love to cook and clean and if we are being hosted in someone's home then we will be anything but underfoot as we are always outdoors.
