About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making the good, better.

ABOUT ME

I am a well balanced extremist. I'm very rational and analytical, in an out-of-the-box, quirky kind of way.

I've been told I'm a good listener and an inquisitive questioner -- I like to dig deep in conversations and can provide a wide variety of connections to other topics.

I love adventures and new experiences. Whether it's exploring the woods, the city, the bottom of a bottle of wine, or someone's ideas, I'm interested.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to be in a position where I am never capable of being lost (physically, emotionally, and intellectually). So, I thought about this and came up with this:

In order to be never in a position where I'm never lost, I have to keep getting lost and find ways out of it. In essence in order to make sure I'm never lost, I always have to try to get myself lost! And I think that's my way of saying I want to explore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've known about CS for a long time but never had a couch of my own to offer, and likely won't for another year, I am, however, available to hang out for any visitors to Seattle!

I'll be traveling to Europe this summer, which is why I'm quite a bit more active now. I'm hoping to learn the ropes of CS while traveling there.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Bliss!

Interests

I'm very good at being interested. I try to learn about anything and everything I can and have questions about nearly anything my eyes rest on.

The concentration of my interest, what I study academically and professionally, is mathematics and computer science, both of which I can say I'm not only interested in, but also good at.

Other areas of my interest: neurobiology, psychology, cultural and social anthropology, modern philosophy, economics, current-day public policy, animal behavior, trying to figure out why music is so good, many more...

Music, Movies, and Books

I like witty humor (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy being one of my favorites, also Catch-22), fictional work written by philosophers (Rand, Camus), and Dostoevsky.

I love music in general -- but, if I had to pick some of my top favorites: Pink Floyd, Notwist, Mars Volta, many old school hip-hop artists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I took a 5 day camping trip alone to a completely secluded beach by the Pacific ocean. This year, I'm planning to top that by a completely-not-secluded trip to the ocean of history and people that is Europe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm very good at computers and have been told I'm a good teacher (I make great computer analogies). I'm very analytical and can help find patterns in things even if I'm not familiar with them.

More practically, I've designed and developed many websites for some very large organizations, and can provide design/architectural advice for building user interfaces and scalable dynamic engines.

I've also spent a lot of time studying social sciences and philosophy and can help in pointing the way in the early stages of those subjects.
