About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get people into the real Aussie beach culture of Sydney!

ABOUT ME

I've been travelling all my life, since I was barely 6 months old. I've been through SE Asia quite a bit, lived in Indonesia, backpacked through most of Europe, and a few other places. But there's so much to go!

I work in sustainability for an engineering company. I surf when I get a chance, and I bloody love travelling. I think it's one of the most important things a person can do in their life.

I love laughing at anything. I'm a very easy-going person, and so is my flatmate. Always keen to get outside and go do something, whether it's going for a coffee, a festival, the beach, or just a walk along Sydney Harbour.

I'm a bit of a film-geek. I try and cook, but I'm a bit of a sook because if the recipe looks too hard I'll usually just go for something I know, but I am getting better at trying more challenging options, promise!

PHILOSOPHY

I can't remember what inspired me to come up with this, but for the last few years I've been rolling with - fun, love & peace....- (mention this in your request so I know you bothered to read my profile).. by searching these out and trying to surround oneself with at least two of them at any one moment, the third will come to you by itself and so you cannot go wrong!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I'll be based in Sydney for the next few years, I'd love to be able to share what I've discovered about Sydney and have fun times with cool and interesting people from around the globe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I only had two experiences while in Europe, and they were bed-surfing not couch surfing haha. One was in Switzerland and the other in Helsinki and both were big highlights of my trip.

Interests

Surfing, nature conservation, fantasy novels, non-fiction literature, film and travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything by Tolkien or Jared Diamond, just to give an example of books.
Films by Scorcese, Nolan, Coppola, Del Toro, and Fincher are great.
The list of bands runs into the thousands but to name just 10 I would say Nirvana, Jack Johnson, Rage Against The Machine, Alt-J, Led Zepplin, St Germain, Gold Panda, Jurassic 5, The Roots, Bach, The Cat Empire, Rise Against, and Justice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During celebrations for Vappu, in Finland, I ran, naked, at night time, and jumped into the sea....3 times....and the sea had only just recently become ice-free 2 weeks earlier! Needless to say, my body was screaming for me to get back into the sauna but my mind said "hell yeah that was brilliant!"
